    Detailing bag

I carry my Cyclo in a Dewalt DCK019 bag; my Dewalt DWP829X in a Dewalt DCBAG3, which has been replaced by the Dewalt DG5553. I also use a GG bag that has a collection of my "go-to" items. It'll hold a GG polisher, pads, bottles of chemicals and what ever you can stuff into the bag. Not bad for...

I plan on buying a Flex 3401 someday soon just to have one.

    Made in USA vs world

When I purchased my first DA, I looked at the PC/GG/Meg's, the Cyclo and the Flex 3401. One feature I really liked about the Cyclo was the lack of vibration. What I liked about the others is they use a 5"-6" pad size which seems to be very popular. The final deciding factor for me was the Cyclo...

    Chevy mud handshake commercial

I saw the same commercial and the first thing I thought was "I wonder what the guys on AGO will say about that?" For the most part I was right in that many, if not all, said they cringed at the "muddy handshake" which is what I expected. Am I the only one who looks at that as an opportunity to...

    $20k paint jobs

I recently watched an episode of "Overhaulin" and Chip Foose made custom paint containing something like 18 shades(?) of pearl which ended up costing $2000 a gallon which was applied to a 1960's VW bug. Yowsa!

Mobile Detailers! I need help organizing/condensing my equipment! (Video)

If you want to keep your truck, one alternative to storing items currently stored in the plastic tubs in the back seat is a slide-out drawer that fits in the bed of the truck. You can put your other items on top (although the water tank may need additional support) of the drawer and put your...

Pressure Washer for your Detailing Business

I've been considering developing my mobile wash system around a low-pressure system like the Mytee Big B.O.S.S. 6002 or the CG POD vs a high-pressure system. How has your LP POD system worked for you?

    How to restore metal trim

Here's a photo of the trim surrounding the glass portion of the moonroof in my car. I hope this better illustrates my dilemma.

    How to restore metal trim

What a hoot! I'll pass that along to my graphics artist who designed it. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of that. After owning this particular breed of American exotica (3.4L 32-valve DOHC V-8, semi-active suspension, etc) I'm not sure if I want a foreign car like a BMW because the maintenance...

    How to restore metal trim

It looks like black metal trim surrounding the glass portion of the moon roof. The surface is smooth and look like trim that has been bleached out by the sun (it's a 1997 Ford Taurus SHO, by the way). Nothing made for plastic trim will even faze it. There is similar trim on the door panels...

    How to restore metal trim

My car has black metal trim surrounding the moon roof and looks like gray chalk. Is there anything that will restore metal trim without having to repaint?

    Bad Craigslist Spelling

I'd wager you were taught phonics in grade school. The sad part is they're (not their or there) getting paid (not payed), too (not to or two).

How NOT to use a Rotary

I'm not familiar with the machine he's using. It sounds like a rotary grinder, to me. Something that noisy would drive me crazy!

    Finally figured it out!!

For road line paint removal, try "Get Off Clean" by Go Clean Products, located in Avilla IN, just north of Fort Wayne. Other pro detailers have stated a paint reducer will also remove road line paint splatter, too.

Does taping let you be sloppy?

I was browsing in the paint department of a "big-box" store recently and a couple of guys walked by who looked like they were painters. One guy chuckled and said to the other "Tape off trim? Why? All that does is let you be sloppy." So that begs the question, when detailing, does taping trim...

Anyone ever go to Renny Doyles classes

If I were in your shoes, I'd take the training! I'm quite sure what you'd learn from Renny will pay for itself quicker than real estate appraising. Just my 2¢.

    Using customer's electric and water

Two of the best things about the Honda: 1. They are very quiet; 2. They are sensitive electronics (computer) friendly. The power output is in some cases, cleaner power than what you get out of the wall outlet. Other generators produce a square-wave output that will reek havoc on computers and...

    Using customer's electric and water

I performed a detail on a Ford F-150 for a friend at his home. One factor I didn't take into consideration is he lives in the country and has well water, which was *very* hard water. I washed his truck in the afternoon and by the time I put down the hose and reached for the towel, the water...
