Not able to get Poorboy's Bug Squash in time ...will this work??

Before retiring I drove trucks. We just used a car wash brush with hot water, no soap to clean the windshields. Simple and effective unless the bugs have been on there for too long.

Is there a benefit to machine applying a wax or sealant versus applying by hand?

Thanks Mike. That makes perfect sense. So Pinnacle liquid wax should be a good choice as a topper. Got it.

Is there a benefit to machine applying a wax or sealant versus applying by hand?

Mike, is putting a coat of pinnacle liquid wax over WGDGPS a bad idea? I see it is recommended that the paint is polished and free of wax or sealants but topping sealants with wax seems to be popular. I'm confused.

    Clearcoat Failure

Good project to paint it yourself. Sand it, prime it, get a gun and compressor and shoot. If you don't want to do that I'd just use rattle cans.

    McKees wax remover for plastic

Tried this today on the plastic around my wipers. It did not work well but in fairness it was Griot's fast correcting cream I needed to remove and not wax. Also tried it on some trim on the tailgate that had wax or sealant that's probably been on there for several years. No luck there either.

    Cleaning dried compound off plastic

I ordered the McKees. Reviews of the Griot's weren't too good. Thanks.

Thanks everyone. I'll order some with a plastic protectant while I'm at it.

    Cleaning dried compound off plastic

I made a bad rookie mistake with my PC polisher. Lifted the pad while it was spinning and sprayed Griot's fast correcting compound all over. The plastic cowl under the wipers has a lot of dried compound on it. What can I use to get this off before applying a trim dressing?

    Got those nasty wheels clean

I decided to try Poorboys spray and rinse wheel cleaner on a decidedly tough job. Wolfgang wheel cleaner did very little. Sprayed it on and agitated with brush for first application. I then did the rear wheels 3 or 4 times and the fronts 4 or 5 times just spraying and rinsing. Never expected the...

Paint Decontamination. How good can you really expect it to be??

Never used an auto scrub pad but when I use clay the surface comes out very smooth and bump free. Maybe the pad doesn't work so well or it could be orange peel as mentioned. Had good results with Blackfire poly clay bars but I'd guess any clay from the top brands is good. Worth trying if it...

    Klasse sealant questions/issues/suggestions

My first experience with klasse sealant was a nightmare. After smearing it around till my arms were sore I tried the wetting it method. Used Blackfire sealant spray because that's what I had. Once the wipe off towel got good and damp it came off reasonably easy but certainly not easy. Back...

    Starting Right

Another vote for Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant. Clay it first for peace of mind and top the sealant with wax if you want to but not a necessary step. Rinseless washes and microfiber towels are a much better method than using car washes with their brushes. We get new Subarus every few years...

First time using PC 7424 tomorrow

That would be worth trying. Who knows how much contamination is on there that a clay bar doesn't get. Thanks for the suggestion.

First time using PC 7424 tomorrow

So I decided to start with the hood. Perfecting cream didn't seem to do much so on to the fast correcting cream. Then back over it with perfecting cream and topped with WGDGPS. Also clayed first and it was pretty contaminated. Probably improved the finish about 60% but I decided it's just too...

First time using PC 7424 tomorrow

I will try that. If perfecting cream and the pad do the job it would save a step and a lot of time. Makes sense. Thanks much.

First time using PC 7424 tomorrow

So I bought the PC recently and have never used one. Have the day free tomorrow so I'm going to start on the truck. Truck was repainted about six years ago so it looks great from a few feet away but there are plenty of swirls and shallow scratches. A few deeper scratches also that I'll use touch...
