Mark your calendars, Detail Fest 2010 will be March 27th

Re: Mark your calanders, Detail Fest 2010 will be March 27th Yay! No conflicts with the 12 Hour race at Sebring :) Maybe I'll have one of my old BMWs in shape to display this time around after a nice FL winter (not much 'wrenching for fun' happens in the hot weather during the rest of the year).

    Rainbow at AG

Neat, I've noticed quite a few rainbows recently with the all the rains and light mist lately. Too bad I haven't found a pot of gold yet...

    Optimum Leather Protectant Trigger Sprayer

Yes, the sprayer does not work well-- I think the product is too thick for the sprayer to atomize. I use a foam applicator to apply the product with more control and so the actual spray pattern doesn't cause an issue for me. But certainly, the sprayer isn't optimal.

    Respect

Yup, you sure can. I plan to build a large workshop for most activities but will probably only insulate and air condition the attached garage on the house for detailing projects and light car maintenance work during the summers.

    Respect

Well, on the bright side, give it until January and the heat and humidity will subside some during our "winter"! Otherwise, enjoy the weather and drink plenty of fluids... due to the ocean, we stay consistently warm most of the year. But June/July/August are about the only time of year it gets...

Glass product for "rain sensing" windshield

With my BMW, if anything, I have found using Rain-X or similar products causes it to wipe more than is actually necessary. Water beads up more than usual on the glass which affects the sensor as rolls by. Because of this, I think the car senses more water droplets. Most of the time though...

    Plastic Polish: Plexus vs. Mothers

If you are looking to actually polish or remove light scratches from the tint or plastic items, I would recommend the Megs #10 and #17 products. Plexus doesn't seem to actually do anything to the surface of the plastic, so I feel it is more of a cleaner and light filler product. When my tinted...

    Are my windows messed up??

If this doesn't wipe off, it sounds like you need to polish the glass, as there might be mineral deposits on the glass. I guess they could also be etch marks, as those do happen when cars encounter very hard water, such as what you see from unfiltered sprinkler systems that draw from a well and...

Cash for Clunkers - did you see this coming?

Unfortunately that F150 isn't worth much more than the trade-in credit, which is probably why it was cashed in. But it is shame to see something like that disabled and taken off the road, when there are all sorts of low-income folks that could probably buy it for a nominal amount with a...

I Hate The No Spam Filter!!!

I run a large web forum and have found there is no compelling reason to use such anti-spam tactics on the public search pages. Especially when combined with a rather long 30-second search waiting period as this forum is configured, which makes the potential risk from misuse quite low. Now, if...

    Rim Paint Help

Is the nozzle atomizing correctly? And shaken very well before and during painting as you go along? Are you applying even, multiple light misting type of coats with some dry time in between? What are you doing after sanding the primer, like using any sort of degreaser or prep agent/cleaner...

    Interior Fabric Cleaner

How wet are you getting the carpet? Many people make the mistake of over saturation. If you can't extract the moisture fully then you are probably going to have stains wick up as the carpet dries. And sometimes you have detergents that don't rinse clean from the carpet, as dirt seems to stick...

    Hot Flex?

My Flex got very very hot the last time I used it, however, this is in South Florida and the ambient temperature in the shade was about 90°F that afternoon. The backing plate was actually hot enough to transfer heat and affect the polish in the middle of the pad, so I gave up and resumed the...

    Meg APC+ Brake Rotor Safe?

I'm think it was most likely rust that had formed on the rotor, which increased friction for the first or second application. Now if it doesn't go away, then I would have some concern. It is certainly worth trying to keep your chemical products off the rotor, pads and calipers. Not so much...

Help! How do I get these spots off my wheels?!

I see that spotting on many BMW / German car wheels due to metallic or higher performance pads. I think it's pieces of the pad material that are very hot and get semi-embedded into the wheel paint. You probably need to move up on the scale of abrasives, though I'd try one of the specific...

    Weekend Giveaway!

The forum is very helpful extention of the already great customer service from Autogeek! And the employee's I met at Detail Fest were very nice car enthusiasts! I spent a brief time talking to Max after the Meguiars class on Sunday and from meeting him and talking with other employees it is...

Is this a symptom of freezing??

Well, it definitely reached freezing here in Jupiter a couple times this winter. Lost several fruit and vegetable plants. Certainly though, we don't get meat-locker weather to freeze a bottle of QD :) For the hell of it on the coldest morning, I took some Meguiars QD and sprayed it on the...

    Broward & Dade

Yeah, definitely jump between I-95/Turnpike in Jupiter on Indiantown Road. They are right next to each other and it is only a 3/4 mile jaunt across the Turnpike overpass to the I-95 NB entrance ramp. You might save a couple quarters by exiting further south, but then you waste time heading...

    Repairing my wheels

Looks like you need to do some metal work and file down the rough spots and damaged sections, then work your way up in grit with sand paper, until they are ready to polish. Polish up the damaged areas and then shoot with clear, if you want. Chances are the damaged area will end up looking much...
