    Opti Coat 2.0 prep

That was one of my concerns with IPA. Can I get any of those at Autozone, Advance Auto, or even WalMart?

    Opti Coat 2.0 prep

I am going to be coating my car (2003 Civic) and my friends car (2007 G5) with OC 2.0 within the next week or two. I am worried about getting all of the oils off of the paint before application of OC. I have polished a portion of the trunk before with Meguairs D300 and a microfiber pad and then...

    Does Opti Coat Scratch

If dirt dries on the surface you can wash as usual with car wash soap. If tar dries on the surface you can use a dedicated tar remover. The tar remover will not remove the OC as it will remove most waxes/sealants.

    Does Opti Coat Scratch

Probably not. Since OC releases dirt easier, most (75%+) of the dirt can be removed by pressure spraying. This means that less dirt is on the surface when you are washing, which means less chances for marring the paint. If you use a good washing technique, you should notice reduced swirling. OC...

    Does Opti Coat Scratch

You could start by trying to coat one panel and determining if you like it. If you do, good, finish the rest of the car. If you don't like it you can polish it off that one panel and go back to using whatever LSP you like. Also, you could try CQ. It isn't as permanent. It is supposed to last...

    Does Opti Coat Scratch

Yes, that is the major drawback. OC is ideal for people who have a daily driver that they don't want to maintain. You can still top OC with a wax or sealant, but then you lose out on the contaminant releasing properties of OC. Plus a wax or sealant won't last very long on a coat of OC. I am...

    Does Opti Coat Scratch

OC is superior to factory clear coat in the sense that it is harder than any clear coat. It will resist scratches and marring better than clear coat, but will not remain scratch free. OC also protects the clear coat from UV exposure, so there is no need to maintain it with waxing. OC simplifies...

    Mixing D300 and D301

I will. The next chance I get is going to be Tuesday. I will report back on how it worked. I will also try to take some 50/50 shots but I only have my phone camera. Any tips for capturing swirls with a phone camera? Has anyone else tried mixing D300 and D301?

    Mixing D300 and D301

When I compound with D300, it leaves a little bit of a haze on my civic, and if I use only D301 I get about 70% of the swirls out. I was wondering if I could do 2 pea size dots of D301 and add one pea size dot of D300 in the same step? Would this allow me to do a one step and still get out...

    Educating or Spreading a Disease?!?!?!?

I just got my DA and have yet to do any correction, but I have researched a lot so I feel ready to get rid of the swirls. So I guess I am still a newbie. Anyway, today my friend tells me that he has been detailing for years. I was intrigued so I started to ask questions. He goes on to say that...

    Problems with waxing

I won't be able to try anything new for a while. I am a college student away from home and don't have access to any of my washing supplies. I will be going home this weekend and I will try to clay and rewax the lower portions of the car again. I want to try OC 2.0 in the spring. I don't have a...

    Problems with waxing

I understand what you are saying but you can still tell a difference on a vertical panel if there is wax or not when you spray it with a hose. Its not exactly beading but more like sheeting since it is vertical but water will evacuate the surface at a different rate. Also my front bumper beads...

    Problems with waxing

The tops of the door panels bead and the bottoms don't. Even when I wash the car it looks as if there is no wax on the bottom but there is on the top.

    Problems with waxing

The first time I used Dawn to strip what was left of the NXT I used over the summer. Then I used Mothers clay kit and clayed the entire vehicle. I also clayed the vehicle when I noticed it was no longer beading then applied 845 again. The idea that it was sandblasted away could be right. I did...
