Putting together a detailing list, opinions wanted!

Ordered my Meguiar's 105 and 205 today from a local supplier. No shipping is always nice. :) All I need now is just the ONR and Wolfgang sealant and some more 70% IPA. Is there any specific brand of IPA to pick up or are they all the same really? Any other chemicals or fluids I should pick up?

Well, I started doing a simple compounding job on the car to start getting a feel for things and to use up the XMT Polishes. I feel that the 1:1 70% IPA is perfect as it will spread well, but still evaporates without much issue. Also, the 5:1 mix of PP to water is perfect as well. It will lift...

Alright, I'll pick up some 70% IPA then for my wipedowns and dilute it 1:1 with water. Sounds like a good plan.

Sorry about the language. Basically I just stated that I think wipes are worthless in any way, shape, or form. I've never used any wipes that I thought were even remotely good. To me, they're just for lazy people. As far as IPA goes, I'm assuming you dilute it 1:1 with water? Does it matter...

Updated list then: Headlight buffing kit - 3M Headlight Lens Restoration system Car wash for first time details (wax and bug stripper) - Dawn dish soap (original, unscented) Car wash for regular details - Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner car wash Clay bar - Meguiar's Mirror Glaze...

Alright. I'll probably just go with the ONR since it seems to be more popular. Same with the WG sealant.

Sorry, my math was terrible on that one. lol Dwayne, would you go with the DP or the ONR on this one? And would you go with DP sealant or the Wolfgang sealant?

I think I'll end up just going with the ONR. It seems to be hugely popular. Also, the 128 oz. bottle of ONR is still cheaper than if you were to do the BOGO offer on the DP stuff. I've never used the M105 or M205 yet, so I'm interested to see how good they work. From what I'm understanding...

Alright, I understand then. I would really like to be able to do hose-less or rinseless washes for the winter. I generally am unable to get to somewhere that has a heated wash bay that I could actually wash the vehicle thoroughly and doing a rinseless wash with the ONR would be better than...

    Leather Cleaner/Conditioner

I currently have Meguiar's Aloe Leather Cleaner and Meguiar's Aloe Leather Conditioner. They are a two part system with two separate bottles. IMO, both in one won't give you quite the cleaning and conditioning you need. With two separate bottles you can get the best of both worlds and they're...

Alright, a rinseless wash makes sense for those quick washes during the winter or when the car isn't that dirty. It just seemed odd because it feels like I would just be smearing the dirt into the paint on the car without rinsing. I guess it makes sense as long as the car has a good sealant/wax job.

    Meguiars waxes and sealants

Meguiar's makes some great products for sure. From what I see their M105/M205 combination is super popular. I've got their aloe leather cleaner and aloe leather conditioner and love it. Also, their QD is pretty good as well and the Gold Class wax is excellent for the price. Their one product I...

What exactly is the point of a rinseless wash? I'm assuming you wipe the car down with that stuff and then dry it with a different towel? Also, what's so wrong with the Meguiar's QD? I see a lot of people highly recommend it. The Optimum ONR seems like a good product, I just want to make sure it...

Putting together a detailing list, opinions wanted!

Is the Optimum ONR really that good? The reason I see that it's popular is because it's a waterless wash, clay bar lube, and quick detailer in one. Wouldn't you be able to do the same with the Meguiar's Quick Detailer? Anyone have any reasoning for taking the DP paint sealer over something...

Alright, I'll just use the XMT polishes until I use them up and then switch to the Meguiar's stuff. I'm assuming the M105 would be a medium cutting compound to remove scratches and swirls and the M205 would be a light cutting compound for removing buffer trails and small swirls? Basically they...

The XMT swirl removers I will be using until I've used them up. They seem to work pretty decent thus far. I think if I get anything else it might be Menzerna polishes. What brand of sealant are you talking about using? Like a quick wax or what? As far as cleaning the Meg's QD is for...

Well, here's what I've got thus far. I've done a little reading around and asking some professional detailers what they're using. I've got some experience doing this, but would like to get a nice set of detailing supplies together so that I could start doing some detailing jobs on the weekends...
