Diatomaceous earth in a '15 Passat TDI...

I don't think it's corrosive. People mix food grade DE in liquid and drink it. It's claimed to be Safe to sprinkle small amounts directly on pets too, but I'm not going to try that. Just carpets.

    Just a Rant

+1 on Tuff Shine. Other good options I have tried are OPC straight, and Mother's foaming wheel and tire. I don't think any of those would be as economical as 143, but if that product isn't working for you then it doesn't matter what it cost since it isn't benefitting you.

    Cabin Air Filters

With regard to Nick's comment about hardly running the air, do these filters only filter AC? I was under the impression that they filtered all incoming air prior to it coming through the vents in the cabin regardless of whether the AC compressor is running or not. I agree that the maintenance...

Anyone getting excited for the new F1 season?

I can't wait! New body specs and tire size will make the cars faster in general. There's some speculation that new aero changes could help with overtaking, which makes it more exciting. I was wondering at the end of last season if we would see Joseph Newgarten in an F1 car, but I'm sure his...

    What's up with Autopia??????

The Facebook connect link caused the "too many redirects" problem for me a week or so ago. Clearing the history and cookies fixed the problem for me like the earlier post. Been working fine ever since.

    Which Rupes to get...

As for 15 vs 21, the 15 is more versatile, it can work better on panels with curves. Having used both versions, I would strongly recommend the mkII. If it's out of the budget, wait until it is in the budget. You mentioned today's sale, but I don't think that the Rupes tools are part of the sale...

looking to go back and try a coating

I think this depends on what is being used as a "topper." I agree with you that anything put on top of the coating will, by definition, be the top layer and the look and feel will reflect the topper as opposed to the coating. I have no problem putting a QD/Gloss booster product on top of a...

    why rinseless

Another plus is if you have really hard water from the tap you can use a bucket of distilled for rinseless (one bucket method) and virtually eliminate any water spotting issues. Also gives you the option of washing in sections instead of having to do the whole car all at once, which is useful...

    Scangrip Multimatch pictures and unboxing

Saw these demo'd today here in SoCal at a polishing class taught by Jason Rose and the folks at Rupes. Was so impressed with the lights that I picked up the handheld version and the pen light. Defects cannot hide from these lights. These are truly the "professors of harsh reality" when it...

Black label vinyl & leather coating

Use a cleaner on plastics that isn't designed to "condition" the surface. A diluted APC is a good choice. I wipe down with a damp towel afterwards to make sure there isn't any residue. Same approach For leather, I would recommend a leather cleaner that is a pure cleaner, not a cleaner and...

So who's brave enough to be the first to review this...

I'm just thinking about the mechanics of this. So I have a mitt on one of my hands then pick up the hose and wet the mitt. Then set down the hose, pick up the bottle of the shampoo and squeeze some on the mitt, wash a panel, then set the bottle down and pick up the hose again, spray the mitt to...

    ONR added to bucket wash?

The extra lubricity and suds from softening water with ONR makes sense. What I'm struggling with is how having softer water in the buckets will help with water spotting when drying as suggested in an earlier post. Aren't you rinsing off the suds with the hard water coming out of the hose...
