A safe soft brush before washing?

I'll pad it, then; thanks. I figure that it's worth $50 as insurance for the paint; 19 years old, all in the desert, and no oxidation!

A safe soft brush before washing?

At the moment, I'm using a spray bottle of rinseless wash and a microfiber towel to get spots just about every day. Hosing the thing down and drying isn't an option. And hosing a car out here on a daily basis would kind of flaunt the water situation :) What is a CA duster? I found a $50...

A safe soft brush before washing?

I live in the desert (Las Vegas). Dust and mesquite tree debris (from individual tines to small branches) are inevitable. I think I could stick the car in a vacuum room and it would still happen . . . Anyway, what can I safely use to brush the dust & debris off before washing? I'm thinking...

    How to apply liquid wax

My primary concern is the Las Vegas sun, which is brutal on paint. On one of my other cars, we can even tell which direction a prior owner parked it in outside, from the unevenness of the past wear. Is this the right sealant given that concern? Beading, shine, and such are important, but the...

    How to apply liquid wax

OK, I was *way* off ! So I probably have something like a third a bottle soaked up in that towel . . . Is there anything special about the towel they supply with the bottle, or is it just another microfiber (I have another in another box). How often should I apply to a car that had been...

    How to apply liquid wax

I picked up Maguire's ultimate liquid wax for no more real reason than being told that the paste could stain other bits of the car, and the liquid wouldn't. Not having hand waxed a car since the 1980s, and using paste back then, this seems to be far less work. But . . . I used the towel that...

two mild pink lines in white paint

My big order arrived today, so I mixed up the rinseless wash. They came right off without any effort. The car wash foam makes sense; all I could come up with for that color was lipstick . . . So tomorrow, that panel gets claybarred, time permitting. thanks hawk

two mild pink lines in white paint

The paint on this 1997 is stunningly good. I have the roof and hood rubbed down with clay bar and waxed; the trunk is next. I recall reading here about color separation on white paint. Is that what I have here with these two pink lines? And if so, what do I do about it? It almost looks...

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

I picked it up. For some reason, I was expecting it to not get really wet :) Another panel (engine hood) down . . .''

I thought I was supposed to dry wth the microfibers. Whee! another toy! :)

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

I just bought almost $200 of assorted bits from your list. Oddly, there doesn't seem to be a spray bottle for the rinseless wash, but I got them of the others. Then again, I tend to shop at costco instead of sams club largely because of the larger sizes :)

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

OK, flatter it is. It appears I'll need to order the rinseless wash fluid. Do I need to do anything to wipe dust or pollen before using it, or is keeping it waxed and using that kind of fluid with microfiber enough to safely remove dust? hawk

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

There is a circle of light about the same size and the image from the LEDs. I'm not quite sure how it's forming; I'm assuming that it's reflecting from layer below the clear coat, given the way it moves.

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

So how big a pancake should it be? I think it makes about a 4" circle. But then tends to bunch up. The whole car??? Heavens no! I did the roof--well, the 3/4 or so that doesn't have vinyl. OK, and the pillars. I'm hoping for the hood, and maybe the trunk tomorrow, and then on to side...

How would you detail this car? ----> Barn Find - 1961 Plymouth Fury

The darker corners of my soul are saying 1) Distract Mike 2) load it on a truck 3) Run!!! :) hawk

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

Grr. It just ate my post. All wally-world had was more quick-detail to lubricate the clay bar and the liquid ultimate wax. Not a single waterless wash without wax in the store. So I did the top of the car. Here are some befores with a flashlight: The fuzzy part moves separately from...

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

Actually, I have a good tree :) We planted a mesquite to shade the van on the far side of the driveway a few years ago, and now it can do that. It's some kind of south american mesquite (brazillian?), and birds apparently hate it. I have *never* seen a bird in it, and haven't gotten any...

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

Thanks. And I only paid $3k for it! Well below private party kbb (even for good rather than excellent), and that doesn't factor in the vinyl, custom wheels, or extra chrome. I actually stopped by the shop I work with because I forgot the number of the place that was going to tow my late...

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

My strong preference, too. I spent the last 9 years in a Miata (which I just don't fit with the top up, but that's only a few days a year in Las Vegas). I had am '92 Eldorado Touring Coupe several years ago for my oldest, but she wrecked it in short order:( We got another year out of it...

Spectacular paint on a '97 Eldorado; how do I keep it protected?

The '02 Deville paint is indeed damaged, but my wife doesn't want it (!!), and my daughter is taking it. My body shop thinks it can be buffed pretty, but I'm not after the four door anyway. An adult daughter wanted it, and schemed ("Hey. I'm not scheming. I prefer 'conniving'".) to find...
