    Water spot remover

Just did a full detail about a week or two ago. Everything came out great!!! I'm ready for a wash again. But, the water in my city is terrible; tons of water spots after washing. Even if you dry, you still get some small ones. How does a water spot remover such as the Meguiar's one work...

    Polishing pad care

So I did my convertible Mustang today (less polishing needed since there is no roof to do). I used 3 pads. When I was done, I washed them with soap and water and they seem to be fine and ready to go for next time!!

    Polishing pad care

So I'm planning to do a swirl removal this weekend with my Porter Cable polisher and CCS Orange polishing pad (Same pad Mike uses in video). Do you clean this pad when you are finished so you can use it again? If so, how? Or do you just trash it after 1 use?

What's the deal with palm polishers?

Great answer which answers the question perfectly (What is a palm polisher good for?), thanks!!!

What's the deal with palm polishers?

I have a cheap polisher that I picked up a few years ago (actually from Harbor Freight). It's a palm polisher and you don't see much talk on this site about palm polishers. According to HF, my polisher is a Random Orbital. This polisher does not spin in circles. It just does like a vibrating...

Swirls, whast is next after Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Think I'm going to keep working the UC. I've read some write ups by Mike and it seems like sometimes he does multiple passes with UC. I only did 1. The car is a grey car. The spoiler, deck lid panel, rear view mirrors are the only black parts that need attention, so my work area is small.

Swirls, whast is next after Meguiars Ultimate Compound

No, I own which I think is less aggressive an orbital, but am considering buying a DA at some point.

Swirls, whast is next after Meguiars Ultimate Compound

My car has a black spoiler. It has some swirl marks. I tried Meguiar's Swirlx by hand with no luck. I then tried Ultimate Compound by hand with no luck (still have the swirls) So going from least aggressive to more aggressive, what is my next step?

Such a thing as the grain of the paint??

Yeah, my buddy is actually a guru when it comes to motors and making cars fast. But, he really doesn't know much about detailing which he admits. He got this idea (about the grain) from another friend of his (whom I'm not very familiar with). But this friend is now deceased (I may have met...

Such a thing as the grain of the paint??

Hopefully you can settle a discussion between a friend and I: Friend: When you do stuff to your car (wash, polish, wax, etc), never go in circles, because it will cause swirl marks, always move in straight lines Me: A scratch is a scratch; who cares if it is a circle or a straight line, it's...

    Which Meguiar's steps to take.

Great thanks, So then my choices (based upon results from test spot) are Wash --> Clay --> UC -->Swirlx Or UP --> Wax if UC is not needed, then Wash--> Clay --> Swirlx or UP --> Wax If UC is not needed then only 4 steps.

    Which Meguiar's steps to take.

No pictures. I guess my question is then, will I ever need both of those products on the same job? Or are they kind of mutually exclusive?

    Which Meguiar's steps to take.

So, I've just decided to use the Meguiar's system again with the car I recently purchased. Paint is in pretty good shape but does have some swirls that can be seen with the proper light and angle. Clay bar is needed based off of plastic baggie test. Should I Wash-->Clay-->SwirlX-->Ultimate...

    Looking for some new ideas

Not a bad price either. I assume they excluded the clay step from mother's but you should still do it.

    Looking for some new ideas

I've been using Meguiar's products exclusively for quite a while now (Clay, SwirlX, Polish, Wax). I've always been pretty happy with the results and their products are very low cost and easily available from places like Amazon. I just purchased a 2 year old Mustang and I want to do the full...

    Tips for this weekend?

Interesting. The article suggests Meguirs Swirl X as a paint cleaner. I don't have any swirls, but would I still use Swirl X as my cleaner?

    Tips for this weekend?

Looks like a nice weekend coming up here on the east coast. I'd like to detail both my car and truck. Both are fairly newer vehicles and the paint is in excellent condition on both vehicles. The car is garage kept and only 3 years old and the truck is not garage kept, but only 1 year old. I...
