Best silicone spray wax for older paint?

The last couple of years, I have been using Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax, and TW Hybrid Ceramic Spray coating. I have been underwhelmed by the lack of durability of the beading on the TW, and the Meguiars has been only somewhat better. Given the rave reviews I was reading of both products before...

School me on using a windshield treatment like aquapel, and longevity of wiper blades

My cars are garaged outside, 24/7. I've typically had very good luck with Rainx conventional, but this last one only lasted 6 months, and so now I'm thinking I should add to my repertoire. 303 is looking very good now. Rainx says to wash the blade when you wash your car; I can easily do that...

School me on using a windshield treatment like aquapel, and longevity of wiper blades

Rick, I have heard quite a few folks here at Autogeek and elsewhere use 303 on their blades. Do you just wipe it down and walk away, or do you soak it in a bag full of the stuff? Sounds like a lot of time & expense if the latter.

School me on using a windshield treatment like aquapel, and longevity of wiper blades

I have been reading about different blades here, and occasionally come across someone saying that they still have the original blades the car came with (or they haven't replaced their blades in several years), because they treat the windshield with aquapel or something like that. I’m not sure...

    Good second-rate MF drying towel

I found what I was looking for: Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels, microfiber buffing towels, micro fiber, detailing towels The Meguiars supreme shine mf towel (this comes in a 3 pack of towels). I use my Cobra Supreme for the first wipe, and then just one of these supreme Shine Megs...

Waxing a car tomorrow that was washed today

Forgot to add--the cars are outside 24/7.

Waxing a car tomorrow that was washed today

OK two votes against just using a mf to wipe the dust off.

Waxing a car tomorrow that was washed today

Heat wave in my neck of the woods, wasn't sure I'd get the wax on before the surface was 80, so I just washed my minivan this morning (with my other car as well), and I'll wax early tomorrow. Doing it tonight isn't an option--by the time ambient temperature is below 80, it will be dark outside...

    Good second-rate MF drying towel

Folks, just to be clear, if someone is going to mention a cheap MF towel that is not sold on AG, please don't post a link. I do want to respect the forum rules. The AG forum is a great service for folks who want some expert advice on detailing issues, so let's work with them on this. Thanks.

    Good second-rate MF drying towel

The past few years, I have used the Cobra Surpeme 530 MF towels (they appear to have dropped the Cobra name) I bought here for drying my cars. Love them. The Cobra soaks up the huge blobs, and then I like to use another mf for a quick pass, just to get random drops of water. What I have...

    Problems wet sanding a headlamp

I went ahead and did some more toothpaste, and then applied isopropyl alcohol a few times, and then went ahead and re-applied the clear coat. Right now (an hour old), it does not look bad. It actually looks clearer than the other one, that didn't get the sanding (the one that went just fine with...

    Problems wet sanding a headlamp

I'm hoping to clear as much of the white gunk off the headlights as possible, before respraying (which is my ultimate goal). I'd like to not make permanent, a lot of gunk that would cover the headlight. I have a can of Rustoleum clear coat, that feels like there is a lot more paint left in the...

    Problems wet sanding a headlamp

Mods, not sure where this belongs. Feel free to move this. This week I tried to restore a headlamp. 2005 Sienna, never done this before, so I used toothpaste, and then after rinsing it off, sprayed on some coats of clear coat. On one side, it worked fine. On the other headlamp, I sprayed too...

Are slightly crumbling wax applicator pads bad for the paint job?

I do have 3 applicator pads that have come with synthetic wax purchases. I also have a skinny old pad that looks years old. In small parts towards the middle of the pad, it is starting to crumble away. Are these light pieces that come off, bad for the paint? They of course are going to be very...

    >g/m2 is better, for microfibers?

FWIW, I sent an email to Autogeek store support about this. The entire text of their reply is as follows: Hello, There isn’t much a difference between the 2 towels other than the color. Thank you One more thing---I ended up getting a 2 pack of the Supreme 530s, as the 2 pack was on sale for...

    >g/m2 is better, for microfibers?

Is it that the more grams per square meter, is better, for microfiber towels? A year ago, I bought the Cobra Supreme 530. Recently lost it, so I need to replace it. Instead of one large 24x36 towel, I'd like a 3-pack of 16x16s. I use this for drying off a car, after washing it. I follow up with...

What type of gun needed for foam gun?

Hmmm i just washed the van again, and looked out the windshield from the inside this time. I think what I thought were scratches, was just some gunk on the inside of the windshield---much easier to remove! But if I do want to stop using a sponge or mitt, I'll go with the foam gun. Some...

What type of gun needed for foam gun?

Thanks, that explains it clearly. I can handle the garden hose unit. I do have one question---the foam gun that is attached to the garden hose, that are half the price--if you have any experience with them, are these cheaper units less durable, or do they break rather quickly? In the event that...

What type of gun needed for foam gun?

The Autogeek store had some for 120, which is a nogo for me. But after a search, I found this: Autogeek Quart Foamaster Foam Gun FREE BONUS Would this be enough, or is there something better that the other, more expensive units have, like this one (Pinnacle Pressure Washer Foam Cannon HP, foam...

What type of gun needed for foam gun?

I have recently started washing with my sponge and soap, all the windows in my cars, and this last weekend I started noticing light, straight scratches on one of the windshields. If my suspicions are correct--that it is caused by my sponge scraping dirt across them---I'm getting kind of...
