Are all interior protectants created equal?

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll order one of these if I decide to move on from my current product.

Are all interior protectants created equal?

My bottle of Meguiar's Supreme Shine Protectant is about to give out, so I'll want to get a new all purpose interior protectant (not for leather seats, just for anything vinyl/plastic inside the car). I have no real problem with this product at all, and at around 8 bucks, the price was ok. I...

Not looking to start any trouble

Go Pats! I've stopped starting every season wondering what the heck Belichick was thinking with letting player X get away, and not bringing in more heralded players, because he just keeps that team in competition for the Super Bowl year after year after year. Should be a great game...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Just saw today's special 25% off, with no shipping, no minimum. That is too good to pass up.

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

FK1000 that you mentioned (here: Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax, high melt polymer car wax, Finish care auto wax) I see it only in the AG store as a paste wax. Oh does that bring up bad memories! It doesn't cost that much more than Megs GC or ultimate wax. I know you said "they" love--but...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

No snow, although there has been a lot of rain lately (a few weekends, 2 or 3, I didn't wash the car b/c of so much rain). But no snow or road salt. As far as prep, none at all. I may have clayed those surfaces once, years ago, but maybe not. Anyways, my prep is to wash the car before applying...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Perhaps the protection was wearing out. And this weekend, the beading was so little on those panels that I went ahead and waxed it again, even thought it was only 6 weeks after my previous wax job. So perhaps what I was noticing was a degrading of the wax layer. Anyways, it was Collinite.

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Since nobody has challenged this view, I'll accept it as well grounded. Thanks for the input. I suppose I will be ignoring sheeting water (as a sign of the presence of wax), and just use beading as a guage for how quickly my wax is dissipating. I was beginning to think that sheeting was a...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Hmmm let me just say that I don't believe that the nozzle was the case. I took a look at the video after reading your comments. I have to say that the stream of water that I had was not as wide and fast as that water coming out of the hose, but there was a fairly decent stream of water. Its not...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

I have washed it twice in the 4 weeks (its been raining a lot, in between washes). Both times with Meguiars Deep Crystal soap. I have used no spray wax or other detailing products on the paint.

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Looks like Supra didn't read Eldorado's slick plan. :) Seriously, I put it on a "flood" setting, which poured out lots and lots of water. It wasn't as if it were running out of the hose, but it came out in a wide running stream. It was not a mister type of setting---I made sure to use a setting...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

Its defenders would come on here and insist I did something wrong if it is only lasting a month. Maybe I did apply it wrong, although I don't think so. But my question stands, regardless of the brand--I'd like to know if there is a protective layer on my paint. EDIT: Tell you what, when I get...

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

FWIW, I just found the wax that I use on youtube, and in fact guys are showing videos with it sheeting like crazy, so it is definitely a wax that sheets.

No sheeting, but lots of beading?

I just washed my minivan today. It was waxed 4 weekends ago, and both for the initial rinse, as well as rinsing the soap off, there was a ton of beading. Up until now, I would have said it looked like a freshly waxed car. But lately, I’ve been seeing videos on Youtube of guys comparing...

    Cleaner wax for maintenance?

In that case, it sounds like a cleaner wax is just what I should use on a car that doesn't have major gashes, but after 12 years, has probably picked up some crud that I don't want to take the time to clay out.

    Cleaner wax for maintenance?

Thanks to all for the replies. It looks like I'll be ok with the cleaner wax. My next wax job on the older vehicle, I'll do half with cleaner wax and the other half with a regular wax, and see if there is any difference. Then, if I do decide to keep the cleaner wax, I'll grab a bottle of...

    Cleaner wax for maintenance?

Great. Then I'll give it a shot and see if it makes a difference. After you posted, I edited my OP to mention Mothers carnuba cleaner wax as another option. Any thoughts on that one?

    Cleaner wax for maintenance?

I just borrowed an old bottle of cleaner wax (Megs Deep Crystal Cleaner Wax). I saw a pic the other day of someone having used cleaner wax on one half of the hood, and the difference was striking. Now my 12 year old minivan does not have major defects, but I haven't clayed it in years and...

    Wax can't get below freezing?

OK thanks. I already put my waxes inside. Gotta wash my car anyways today, so I'll look at all my other stuff and see. I would think that soaps and protectants should be fine (I mean, I'm not going to use them in freezing whether anyways), but I'll read the labels.

    Wax can't get below freezing?

Now when you and Forrest say "detailing products," do you two mean just waxes and sealants and polishes? Or would you put in all products, such as interior protectants, and car soap, as well?
