Any problem with using Wash & Wax before waxing?

Sounds good. I'm just using my wash & wax b/c I don't like shelling out money and not using the product. I don't plan on buying any more, after this. But at least now I don't have to get anything until both containers are gone. Thanks.

Any problem with using Wash & Wax before waxing?

Let's just say that it is theoretically possible. I mean, the weakest link in the chain, and all that. So if a thin, cheap layer of wax is between the paint and a solid layer of wax, then if that thin layer breaks down, then wouldn't it wear down the layer on top of it? THis is basically the...

Any problem with using Wash & Wax before waxing?

Normally I've used straight soap before a wax, and then when I wasn't going to wax the car, I've used my Wash & Wax soap. Not trying to start a thread about the benefits of a wash & wax (I haven't noticed any benefits). Now, my straight soap is getting used up. I'm wondering if I should just...

Recommendations for sponges to wash with

I see that one of the sponges I use to wash, and another that I use to take off bugs and grease from the wheels, are about to kick the bucket. I can only imagine that Dollar Tree will have a nice supply of each type. I forget where I've bought these in the past. Have any of you gotten a very...

    Best way to remove wax

I'd like to get some idea of how the car looks with just Collinite, and not Collinite plus another wax that was already on the paint.

    Best way to remove wax

No, I don't have any of those products. I have used Meguiars cleaner wax before. I don't think I have any more, but I suppose I could see if the local walmart has any cleaner wax. Would that do the job?

    Best way to remove wax

After thinking I was going to get rid of my collinite 845, I put on another wax. I was talked into keeping the bottle by their support, and would like to wax the car with it tomorrow. What is the best way to remove a current layer of wax from a car? It was just applied 3 weeks ago or so. Or...

How to safely remove a dried bird dropping

If we are going to use a spray bottle (instead of water from a hose), would it matter if the liquid is a quick detailer spray, or could it be just water? What would the advantages of a detailer spray be (my current bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer spray is dwindling down, and I'm wondering when...

Is this or is this not beading?

Now THAT was beading! Nice thread there.

Is this or is this not beading?

I just stumbled across a thread that show pics of cars, with water on them. http://www.incrediblydetailed.com/when-your-car-needs-waxed/ Look at the first large pic (the one of the Porsche Boxster). I looked at that and thought that that water was beading, but that page says no. So when...

Finger test to see if wax is on paint

No. Today I used Meguiars Gold Class soap--not the wash and wax.

Finger test to see if wax is on paint

Hmm just ran my fingers across the paint of the car without wax, immediately after washing it, and it also was very smooth. After the wax job, it was undoubtedly smoother, but still. I'm going to have to do this test only after a wash, but at this point, I'm not sure how helpful it will be...

Finger test to see if wax is on paint

I'm fine with that---I only want wax for protection. I am not a detailer, just someone who wants to make his paint last as long as it possible can. If wax only adds a bit of slickness, that's still ok--as long as it is there, I know I have some wax there making the surface slick.

Finger test to see if wax is on paint

I came across this thread, in a post at AGO asking how to tell if wax is present on car paint: The Squeak Test - How to test for the presence of wax I recently came across a very simple test and am wondering what you folks here think of it. I was told to simply run my fingers across the...

Clay bar for new paint job?

I uploaded the pics as attachments. Unfortunately, even viewing the pics at 100% on my computer, the metallic glimmer was not seen, so believe me the paint does look nicer than this. But you can at least see how they did it. I was pleasantly surprised after reading some negative reviews. And...

Clay bar for new paint job?

Oh I definitely will clay, now that I know that it won't hurt the paint.

Clay bar for new paint job?

The folks at Maaco said to wait only 30 days for wax. I honestly don't know for sure what is the best time frame to wait, but I'm inclined to follow their recommendation.

Clay bar for new paint job?

I didn't realize what you two meant by overspray. OK now I see. I will do the baggie test and use a clay bar if needed, before washing and waxing. As long as I know that this won't take off helpful layers from a new paint job. Thanks.

Clay bar for new paint job?

No overspray that I can see, apart from a thin strip of paint on my side view mirror. I'll get that soon.
