    XC90 hood

I did a waterless wash, checked for above surface contaminants, and then polished the black hood on my XC90. I decided I would try the HD Speed in the sun - since I read it was sun friendly - and these are the results. I truly liked being able to see the impact right after the polishing...

    A little Ferrari heaven

So 'only' 19 of them here and it just rained so they were brought inside. I got a very blurry picture of the bag of keys thinking it is pretty rare to have that many keys in one bag. The cars were being washed - with Armor All products of some sort. That is all for now.

    Detailing Appointment BlowOff

You could. If I wanted her to be a client (good fleet of cars, high possibility of a referral to a dealership, I would gently follow up later with a "we had scheduled an appointment on Monday did you need to reschedule (even though it is a past date)?" You could even tack on the cancellation...

Paint defect? What is it, and how do I get rid of it?

Given that they are bumps it is most likely above surface bonded contaminants as Mike Phillips describes them. I would start with a clay and clay lubricant on a small section of them. See if they come up. If not you might need to step it up to an IPA solution.

Mini review of Mother's Wheel and Tire Cleaner

Ok so here is the much delayed update. I sprayed the tires, slightly dampened my tire brush, swiped the face of the tire and then let it dwell for the 30 seconds. After rinsing here are the photos of the two tires:

How to Remove Paint Specs and Spatter?

I would start with some clay and quick detailer spray or clay lubricant. See how this does on an inconspicuous spot. Clay can mar the paint a little bit but in my book it is less of a risk than using a fingernail/paint thinner (no disrespect to LEDetailing). You might also try a diluted IPA...

Correcting individual panels at a time advice..

I have approached my XC90 the same way. I can't imagine finding a time to do the entire car in one day or two, what with a full time job and two young kids, and so I do it panel by panel when possible. I clay the panel that I am going to do and polish and reseal afterwards. If I have time to...

    Paint depth gauge wanted...

Thanks. I only have the GG6" so not taking off a lot but thought I am enjoying this process and just wanted to know where I am at in terms of thickness. I know the important thing is to take care of the paint so you don't have to do it a lot but I just enjoy the polishing so much. Maybe I...

    Paint depth gauge wanted...

Thanks. I found some on eBay but am always a little skeptical on the cheapest ones and the next step up was in the $300 plus range. I'll check again. I also have no frame of reference for the brands. I'll check that link. Thanks everyone.

    Paint depth gauge wanted...

Board moderator - if this is not the right place for this inquiry please feel free to move it or delete. I am not doing detailing for a living and it is on my two daily drivers but nonetheless I would be interested in having a paint depth gauge. The prices are a bit steep for the non...

    Haze or film on Corvette

Probably too recent of a car to have clear coat failure or oxidation. Pictures will help indeed.
