Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

Same here. I haven't used D301 as an AIO yet, though I did do a test spot with it and while it brightened up the paint nicely, it did not remove anything but the finest swirls. I tested SwirlX on a mf finishing pad right next to it, and the SwirlX easily removed more. So, you might be right...

Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

Not sure about CG pads but I doubt they come from B-n-S. The hex logic pads are as high quality as those. Also, the B-n-S pads list green as their mid polishing pad, and white as their heavy polishing pad. The CG pads list white as light polishing, green as heavy polishing, then orange as light...

    Finally a pic of UPW x 3

Looks good. Personally, I have never been able to tell the difference between one coat and many. And lord knows I have tried really hard with all kinds of "tests". lol

Not sure if that's glare or haze. Did you have to go back over it with a finer pad or did it finish down nicely?

Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

That D151 keeps calling my name. lol. I don't think it's sold in anything but the gallon though. It would take me years to use that much. So I picked up some Meg's White Wax today, which I have a sneaking suspicion, is a very close formulation to D151. Can't wait to try it next week.

Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

Amazing job, Art. My plan is to use the Orange pad with cleaner wax on silver and white, and a white pad on dark to black. Is that your approach? It would be interesting to see how an orange pad finishes on black. Have you ever considered using the Chemical Guys green pad which is in between...

Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

FWIW, I've also decided to add some orange and white foam pads to my arsenal for use with cleaner wax. A one step cleaner wax is the ticket for making an amazing turnaround on a family member's daily driver in the shortest amount of time. A 2 step is nice, but just takes entirely too long to not...

Sold all my polishes/pads. Starting Fresh. What's the latest n greatest?

I've asked the same question before and what always seems to come up as suggested is Menzerna FG400 with FG4000 or Meguiar's M105 with M205. Lake Country Pads in yellow, orange, and white. Black or blue if applying wax with machine. You can combo the yellow, orange, and white pads with the...

How to use a one-step cleaner/wax to maximize profits

I have read way too many positive comments about D151 not to give it a try. Can't wait for Spring.

How to use a one-step cleaner/wax to maximize profits

Great thread. Being that this thread was started in 2012, has there been any "game changing" technology recently by the way of AIO cleaner/waxes that may help reduce time/maximize profits? What are some of the newer offerings that bring something new to the table? Are the XMT360 and D151 still...

    My first attempt

I'm surprised the UC with orange pad didn't get the swirls. How many left-right/up-down passes did you do? Also, not sure step 5 is really adding much to your process (except for time). Unless the white pad w/UP was leaving micro-marring, the finish should be ready for your wax. I would go...

    Paint Cleaner before sealant

Thanks for clearing this up. So with that being said, would a fine polish with chemical cleaners in it be even better?

Do i need to use Griot's Paint Prep?

As I found out recently, there are endless choices. You pretty much cannot go wrong with any of the brands that Autogeek sells. Checkout this PDF chart that lists many of the products in order of aggressiveness. Look to the far right for the mildest pre-wax cleaners. If you need to remove...

Do i need to use Griot's Paint Prep?

It just gets the paint ready for polishing, as in removes any old wax/sealant. The paint prep would be used BEFORE claying. No?

    finishing wax?

Try it and see if you can see a difference. If so, go for it. Definitely not overkill, but it may not do much other than give you some satisfaction after all that work. Especially if applied by hand.

Which is your main "go-to" AIO (All In One)?

Wait, so D151 is not SMAT? Well, that's probably why I recall thinking it was "better". I need dummy proof! lol Will definitely give it a shot in the spring.

Sears damaged my rims, help me touch them up?

First step would be to find out whether your wheels are polished bare metal, painted, clear coated, etc. and research the correct/best way to touch them up.

Which is your main "go-to" AIO (All In One)?

Makes sense, but for enthusiasts working on personal cars, I'm surprised it doesn't get more mention. From what I've read, it seems like a killer product. You can vary the cut by pad choice while finishing down like a fine polish, and leaves behind protection that supposedly lasts longer than...

Do i need to use Griot's Paint Prep?

Sorry, just my opinion but I would omit step 5 unless the Collinite calls for a wipe down of some sort after polishing and before applying. I used to do two coatings of wax but I have come to realize that there is little benefit, apart from psychological, if you do a thorough first coat. But...

Do i need to use Griot's Paint Prep?

You're right, but the Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Clear will. I should've been more specific. I've never used the wash and gloss.
