    2009 Lexus IS250 -- Beginner Paint Correction

Is that obsidian black 212 or is it onyx 202? Hard to tell the difference but the onyx is single stage and to me is one of the deepest blacks I've seen when polished correctly. I think the obsidian has slightly dark blue tinted clear.

Your Brief thoughts On Megs Solvent

Megs body solvent is a 60% odorless kerosene 40% naphtha mix. Give or take a bit on the mix percentage. I know that Naphtha is used by many places as a body solvent to prep the paint work. My buddy who worked at a toyota factory told me they use it before applying decals and emblems. It's also...

    2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Awesome work as usual. Always enjoy reading your threads and picking up advice and product recommendations. I'm gonna try some 205 on the chrome trim on my GC. I owned a 2007 GC diesel before I picked up a new one in 2012. I loved it. It had tons of torque and the mileage compared to the other...

Help Me Get Rid of Brown Stain

Folex works really well on general stains. For "specialty" stains it's always a little harder to remove them. With carpets you don't want to use force to try to remove the stains either. You could easily damage the fibers. Different types of stains need different cleaners. Depending on if...

    Convertible top protectant streaking

I had the same thing happen when I treated the top on a 645 I had a few years ago. I used a bmw product before I knew about 303. For me it happened from not allowing enough time for the product to "set" before applying another coat. No harm. I did notice that when I used thin coats and allowed...

How to clean carpets and upholstery without extractor

That's what I do with a medium bristle brush. It's just attached to my shop vac so I'm sucking out the dirt as I loosen it with brushing. Then I go over it with my regular nozzle.

    Interior scrathces

For the scratches on your radio screen you could use a polish like Meguiar's Plastx to remove them. That looks like a tough area to get to though, and you don't want to apply too much pressure to avoid damaging your screen. For the textured hard plastic scratches some people have had some luck...

How to clean carpets and upholstery without extractor

+1 on agitating dry with a brush. Or if you have the brush attachment for your shop vac you could use that and save a step.

Removing plasti-dip reisude from inner surfaces of alloy wheel.

Home depot carries one called orange plus. It's one of the only d-limonene cleaners that doesn't have other cleaners added to it. D-limonene is fine on aluminum.

Removing plasti-dip reisude from inner surfaces of alloy wheel.

I buy pure dilutable d-limonene from a company that produces it in St. Petersburg. I use it around 10% as an apc cleaner. For removing adhesives and tar and grime I'll go up to 50%.

    Wheel weight adhesive inside rim

d-limonene disolves the adhesive. I found this out after leaving it soaking on a dirty rim for too long and having the weights fall off. It doesn't doesn't damage the wheel finish either. It can be found in orangle based cleaners.

Removing plasti-dip reisude from inner surfaces of alloy wheel.

The dip dissolver is is a d-limonene based product. It will soften the plasti dip quickly. Plasti dip disolves in chlorinated solvents, ketones, turpentine. I'm not sure how those will affect the wheel finish though. A d-limonene cleaner would be the safest route to use on the wheels.

Worked on my 1996 GMC pickup. Lots of pic

Nice job on the truck. The paint on your Toyota looks awesome now. What are you not happy with? Remember that things like factory orange peel usually won't be corrected with compounding and wetsanding factory clear isn't really recommended since it's thin. And unless it's a show car I would...

What kind of Vacuum is everyon using these days?

I picked just picked up a 6hp ridgid at HD on sale that included the car detailing accessories no charge. The car accessories cost $40 separately and I paid $99 for the package. The vac has scroll noise reduction, I thought that was just advertising and big words until I used it. I can actually...
