    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

Did some more research, and in the 70s some manufacturers would do their metallic paint jobs by spraying the color, then lacquer with the flake in it on top of that. The flake was usually aluminum, which would explain why my pads are coming up black. Also, change of plans...hood and roof will...

    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

When I'm done with this RX-4 I'm going to do the trunk of that oxidized Datsun 610 for fun. :D Day three... had some breakfast, finished up with M105 on the sides, and we took care of all the parts that needed work by hand. The roof and hood will be done tomorrow. Then M205, M205, M205, M205...

    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

Ewwwwww. After 2 passes with M105: And a few passes with M205: 50/50: Orange peel...but you know what? I'm ok with that. For now. :righton:

    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

Good eye, Mike! Eddie just bought that Datsun 610 and drove it back from halfway across the country. It needs body work and a respray, otherwise I'd be all over polishing it. It'll be for sale after we take care of the dents and get it in primer. After a bit more work on the RX-4's hood...

    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

Thanks. I have an unhealthy love for wagons and japanese classics, so I've been looking forward to working on this car. It's the only RX-4 I've seen in person. Went with M105 + M205, and we'll be using Opti-coat when I'm done.

    1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon

I'll update this as I make progress. :buffing: Eddie's Mazda RX-4 Wagon This is Eddie's wagon. It's rare. It's old school...and it has 18,000 miles. It also has RIDS, nasty oxidation, etching, and everything else imaginable. I won't be able to get it perfect, but it'll at least be shiny...

    Post Your Unpacking Pictures

Awwwww yeaaaaaah! Needed some things for a friend's 1974 Mazda RX-4 Wagon. M105, M205, more pads, a new backing plate, and opti-coat 2.0. 18,000 miles... it sat for a decade or two and is incredibly oxidized. It's currently a chalky matte gold, but my test spot revealed a deep glossy copper...

    Run for cover!

This is an old one from a couple days after I had picked it up in Chicago. Hadn't had a chance to clean it up yet. I might take some new shots tomorrow, hopefully the rain will be done. I guess two and a half decades of working those pedals will take a toll on a floor mat, that's the...

    Run for cover!

Other countries got the fun motors. The later cressidas share parts with the 86.5-92 Supra. In the US, those supras came with either the non-turbo 7M-GE at 190hp or the turbo 7M-GTE at ~240hp. US cressidas got the 7M-GE. In Japan, Supras came in several other flavors...including the...

    Run for cover!

Thanks guys. It still has the original 5M-GE with the A340e behind it. I've been doing maintenance stuff so far, but it's lowered on MR2 AGX front and Camaro AGX rear with pitstop springs. (700lb/in front, 500 rear) Swapped out the rear for a 3.73 LSD. Working on replacing the entire brake...

    Glass cleaners

I might have to give invisible glass another try in spray or aerosol form. I grabbed some wipes at walmart a while back and they were terrible, left a nasty haze and didn't seem to get much off.

When do you finally throw out a microfiber towel

There's always a use for them. I toss em' when washing them doesn't return them to a somewhat normal color or they get caked with something nasty. Usually the last duty they serve is cleaning up spills as a shop rag.

    Collinite 476.......

I love 476. Used it on my Cressida last September, wax was still there in July. No garage or cover after December. Take what you think a thin layer of wax is, then apply it thinner.

    Run for cover!

Run for cover, hide your kids, hide your wife...an 80's Toyota enthusiast has just joined the forum! :bolt: There goes the neighborhood... I'm Thom, a photographer located just outside Madison, WI. I've been a Toyota guy since I was 16, and I've been polishing things most of my life. My dad...
