    Best Waterless Wash?

Anyone tried the Griots Garage WW? (Although if looks are any indication, it looks eerily similar to Ecosmart RU)

    Chemical guys

I forgot to mention that I do use their Mr. Pink for both my foam lance and bucket wash. It seems to work well for both, but again I don't have much to compare it to because I have only used OTC soaps from auto parts stores before. I have not compared it to other premium brand car soaps. I...

    Best Waterless Wash?

Another question: If I do end up getting one of the concentrated versions, will I need to get deionized or distiller water to dilute it with or can I just use the tap water from my garage sink? I do have a whole-house filter on my water supply at my house, not sure if that matters.

    Best Waterless Wash?

Would I be correct in assuming that the Ultima would require less buffing because it is strictly synthetic and there is no carnuba in it? The Ecosmart RU has carnuba in it like the Pinnacle, and it seems that it takes a little more buffing to get it completely off the surface so it doesn't haze...

    Best Waterless Wash?

Just wondering what everyone considers the best waterless wash product out there. I find that a waterless wash has an important place in my regimen, and think it will come in handy in the winter. I have only used CG's EcoSmart RU, and it seems to do a good job. But with all the knowledge...

    Chemical guys

I think sometimes that the Chemical Guys are their own worst enemy. Their marketing does come off as cheezy and they say some things in their videos and item descriptions that may be believable to people who don't know any better. But I can see how the knowledgeable & experienced detailer...

Portercable: if the pad isn't rotating am I pressing too hard?

It took me a few attempts to dial in the right pad & product combos, but once I had it figured out it produced near perfect results. As far as future swirl prevention, its all about proper washing & drying technique. There are many threads/posts on this site about each. And the guy that told...

Portercable: if the pad isn't rotating am I pressing too hard?

And I had a similar experience with a "pro" in my area. I had a regular detailer that I used a few times just for your standard wash/clay/wax (no correction), but after a few sub-par performances, I searched for a new detailer. I had a guy highly recommended to me that supposedly ran the...

Portercable: if the pad isn't rotating am I pressing too hard?

Saulpr: I'm in the exact same position as you. Never done any machine polishing in my life. But with alot of research, practice, experimentation with different pads/products, and a little trial & error, I was able to achieve near-perfect correction on my daily driver. And that's while still...

Portercable: if the pad isn't rotating am I pressing too hard?

I wouldn't consider going to a more powerful machine until you have ALOT of experience. The fact that your pad stopped rotating is precisely why the PC is the perfect machine for you right now. It's specifically designed to stop rotating if you are pressing too hard. It does this as basically...

Portercable: if the pad isn't rotating am I pressing too hard?

You are correct. If the pad isn't rotating, you are pressing too hard. However, you don't want it to spin too fast either when correcting defects. There are plenty of videos out there that show proper pad rotation (Mike from Autogeek, Adams Polishes to name a few). It's a good idea to make a...

    Detailing a car in sections

From what I've read, going panel by panel at different times is fine as long as you complete the entire process for each panel (wash, polish, protect). I've been doing it myself on my DD.

    Microfiber Pads How To Article

I'd take a look at this video from Adam's Polishes for a visual on technique. Keep in mind that they are using their polishes in that video, which from my research seem to be less aggressive that FG400. So some variation of technique may required as suggested in previous posts (lighter...
