    Rotary buffer experience...

Im learning so much by reading here...preach on preach on! Personally, Im terrified of the rotary and its all due to me being new to the game. I did my whole car with a 6 inch Dual Action Ryobi with 3m products (compound, swirl mark remover, ultra fina se) and it took me forever, but it was...

    3M's Discontinuation & Upgrade ?

This is a spin off from another thread that lead into a discussion about 3M. 3M will be “upgrading their line of -Perfect It- products while discontinuing another one which is my favorite. I’ve been using the 1qts pt num 06060 Extra Cut 1200 Grit Compound, 06064 Swirl Mark Remover & 06068...

    3M-Perfect-It III

I agree.. very subjective. There is some dust but I run my secondary cali duster over it and all is good. I have a black car and this stuff is unbeleivable(sp). I dont see it being hard to work with at all, but the 06068(polish/swirl mark remover) can be a pain, especially when it isnt broken...

WHAT?? They discontiunued the 3m 1200grit extra cut pt. num. 06060? hmmm, my napa paint store here has tons of it on their shelf. I wonder if it'd be in my best interest to buy more before it's allllll gone. This stuff works great!!!:buffing:

LOL... no problem, I knew we'd get to the bottom of it. That appears to be for heavy scratches, so unless you have heavy scratches I suggest part 3M Finecut 1200grit (part num 06060). You've already determined that it is abbrassive. Hopefully, someone else will chime in to add more info.

Which one did he give you? 3M has a whole line of Perfect-It (compound, swirl mark remover, etc). I use it with great success(sp) on a black car. Look at the link below; it has pics with part numbers. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-forum/14849-3m-products.html

    3M Products

Yes... I have the wizards wash soap and the wizard shine master (seen in pic) It's pretty good, but I've been playing with that Meguairs(sp) tech wax. It really brings out that oily black sine on the car.

    3M Products

I agree. I realized that my buffer wasn’t up to standard when I started reading here. I must say that the car looks better than when I first purchased it. Black cars exteriors are very hard to maintain, but I was fortunate enough to score some quality products (3M) and the rest was history...

    3M Products

I'm glad you chimed in. I've seen your black vette:righton:, and no I'm using a ryobi 6 inch and the only pads Im using are the standard cloth and a foam finishing (lots of pads). I'm going to upgrade to some like the Porter Cable DA. I sorta agree the swirl mark remover is... so so and a...

    3M Products

This is my first post and like most newbie’s, we start off with questions. I’ll post picks for some entertainment. I’m a huge 3M product fan and I'd like to know what you all think of my process. Any extra tips would be appreciated. 1st – Wash the car thoroughly 2nd – Dry the car with a leaf...
