What rim and tire product do you use for protection?

I use one of the spray and rinse sealants for wheels (hydro2 or hydro blue) I generally don't prescribe to long term tire products. I think tires should be cleaned thoroughly as part of the normal wash process and the strong chemicals and stiff brush normally used will degrade even long...

    Detailing paint protection film edges

It's a judgement call. Most vehicles are not going to be so bad that the 1/8" strip is obvious after applying an LSP, certainly not as obvious as a white line. I see too many cars with residue that it's not worth it to me, in most cases, to risk the residue. If the condition is that bad, then...

    mr.pink vs honeydew

CG's coating definitely has marketing in it, which is much different than SiO2. I can't speak to the rest of its ingredients.

Wet Sanding: What did I do wrong?

Looks like primarily defects instilled by the rotary with a few RIDs and pigtails that weren't gotten out. I would say you are done with bulk sanding on this panel and you did a pretty good job, maybe some spot sanding left if the rotary can't get those few RIDs and pigtails. Then consider...

    Car oxidizes so fast! Solutions?

Were you getting color transfer on to your pads when you compounded? If not, then i would guess your clear is already in jeopardy/compromised. If you did get transfer, then it's single stage and will be a continuous battle, there is little you can do but apply a quality wax/sealant/coating...

How to Clean and Protect a Vintage Cars Interior

The blackfire interior cleaner and interior protectant is a great combo. The cleaner can be used on all surfaces. The protectant can be adjusted to various levels of sheen, Todd helm had a nice how on adjusting the finish; I forgot if it's here or on the sister site

Why isn't applying clear coat after wet-sanding or cutting standard auto detailing practice?

So true. A spray booth, lots of permits, and a completely different skill set. There are a few guys on here that paint, and some of the tasks translate from body shop to detail, but in general fresh body shop clear is much different than OEM or cured clear and some of those guys would be lost...

issues removing stains under trim and between badges

The steamer can cause issues too by emulsifying the adhesive. I've never had an issue on newer cars, but on classics and older vehicles, it can be a problem if the badge is multiple pieces stacked up and glued.

New CG "Clean Slate" wax/sealant stripping soap

Re: New CG "Clean Slate" wax/sealant stripping soap Beading alone does't, but the characteristics of the beading and comparison of each section provides insight. Certainly glass alone beads differently than wax, sealant, coating, paint and I am confident in Stevie's ability to...

    Carpet stains after cleaning

Need pics, but one of your guesses is likely right and I'm thinking shampoo residue. Haven't used CG's, but any carpet shampoo really should be extracted/vac'd out or at a minimum, flushed if they are mats

Best Way to Polish 40 year old Lacquer Clear Coated Aluminum Wheels

Clean them thoroughly, then use a light colored MF towel and a white polish (for paint). If after a few rubs, you see a lot of black on the towel, then it is bare aluminum. Try a second time in the same spot just to verify it wasn't just 40 years of grime coming off. If it's very black the...

    FLEX PE8 Kompakt bleeding oil

Mine went into service over the winter. It was having an rpm issue. Service note said magnet loose. It also said the the housing was leaking, 'fixed', no idea how it was fixed. I waited a couple weeks for mine, not a big deal for me in the winter. Check out their website, there maybe a...
