Need help...getting ready for new black car

OK, I finally can post a few pics. The process used: - wash: chenille mitt/DP Auto bath/DPRWG as a softner in rinse bucket/Guzzler - wheels: I had cleaned them with Griots wheel cleaner 3 days prior, so they got some DP Autobath. Tires got P21S TAW with Mothers tire brush - Clay: spot clayed...

Need help...getting ready for new black car

So.....I finally took delivery of the car a week ago. The dealership followed my request to not wash or do anything to it. Only the hood got lightly swirled in transit, but the rest of the body has no swirls. Unfortunately, it's been raining for a week, so I could only start the new car prep...

Need help...getting ready for new black car

Aaaaah...the car finally arrived. I picked it up Friday night from the dealership, unwashed / untouched per my instructions (they did a very good job of NOT touching it :)). So, now, I had a predominantly dusty black car and sub-freezing temps all week-end long. That is where I decided to do a...

    start 2 finish...one line

Excellent. Even though I am only a hobbyist and not a pro detailer, I clean/detail enough cars for our household, the family and friends that I have to really watch the bottom line. What I found in DP is an incredible value. I will be trying the 1Z polishes in the next 1-2 weeks and will provide...

    start 2 finish...one line

Good question. Maybe it does not sell because their pro-line is recent, or maybe the product is not known enough?

    start 2 finish...one line

If you are trying to do this, then DP comes to mind for the entire cleaning portion of your detailing. I have tried Megs, P21S, Mothers, .....and I have never seen a line of products that manages to do both: be a big bang for the buck and do what they say they do so well. So, shampoo, RWG, total...

    Proper Jeweling Technique?

I would recommend, if you have never done it on this car before, to clay it. Most new cars are still transported by trains and get rail dust in the clear coat. A finer clay like Pinnacle will help removing this prior to polishing.

    Car Wash Soaps

I will second (or third or fourth) the recommendation on DP Auto Bath Shampoo. I have learnt on this forum that in a shampoo, you are looking for 3 qualities: lubricity, detergency and possibly gloss. I used to use the Meguiars Gold Class and it has these qualities, although I found out later...

Need help...getting ready for new black car

Sure will :xyxthumbs:. The funny thing is: I have been saying for a long time that I would never have a black car because "it is a full time job", but could not resist that Carbon black. To make matters worse, the leather is cream in color (from what I read, difficult to keep clean) AND, since...

I agree. So far I have been detailing w/o paint correction and already that has taught me this. Reg. the wax, since several members seem to thing Maxwax looks great on dark colors and I am a huge fan of DP, I will use the Maxwax as a starting point.
