    CarMax Experience?

Carmax can be good to use as a tool before you go to where you are going to actually buy a vehicle so you have something as backup for if a dealer is trying to lowball your trade. They definitely will not be as high as you can sell it yourself for, and may not even be as high as you can get...

    Happy friday!!!!

Happy Friday all. Nothing much going on here. Going to use up 1 or 2 of our wine tasting Groupon type things tomorrow and maybe a movie Sunday but that's pretty much it. I might give the Jeep a rinseless to get the week's dust off and I do need to scrub the stuck on dirt off the tires...

Anyone else unmarried? Am I weird?

Well, I'm 39 and used to be married. Got married at 23, 4 years later we each took our bills (no kids thank goodness) and went our separate ways. Sucked at the time, but you couldn't ask for a cleaner divorce that's for sure. Been single since until a couple years ago I used that...

I need a new wireless router.

Huh didn't know that. I guess that means D-Link did a good job building my 7+ year old DGL-4300 "gamer's lounge" series router. If I connect to it with a cable it will register the max speed of 25MB down & 75MB up at Speedtest.net. No those aren't inflated Comcast "speedboost" numbers either...

    First Rotary + 849X = Mind Blown!

Ack, now you have me wanting to buy one of these again lol. The fact that I might have to finish with a 2nd tool to avoid holograms though is a bit annoying since most of the stuff I work on currently is in good enough shape that one pass with a DA style is usually enough :(

Spreading a Paste wax on LC pad

Speed and you'll likely use less product. The machine makes it easier to get an even & thin layer on the vehicle.

    Happy friday!!!!

Ok I "lied". Pics didn't happen, got started way later than I wanted and didn't have time. Also "cheaped out" and went with the spray sealant version instead of the "normal" DGPS. Also realized I can't do SS II on Sunday because well I'm not getting up again at 6am to take the gf to work just...

    I need a non-shiny tire dressing

Yep, and if your sidewalls are not smooth (i.e. are ribbed), it's also a royal pain in the rear to get on evenly as well. That's the one thing I don't like about it.

    Worst new car scent ever....

Hmm, Jeep (Chrysler) must have thrown that out the window since then. When I got my Jeep in January it was the strongest smell I've ever had in a new car. I couldn't wait for it to either lessen or just totally go away, it reeked. I suspect though since this is the first vehicle I've ever...

    DGPS vs. spritz sealant

Thanks Nick. I did end up using the spray because I got a really late start and was pressed for time. I might hit it with a coat of the regular DGPS in a week if I have time after washing the vehicle. While I'm on the subject of the spray, a few weeks ago I did my Jeep and put down DGPS...

    Happy friday!!!!

Well, it's in decent shape considering it's black paint, it sat on the lot for who knows how long until she bought it in September (2011 model year), and this will be the first chance I've had to get to anything other than a wash or putting a quick coat of DGPS on to get it through the winter...

    DGPS vs. spritz sealant

Thanks for the info guys. It sounds like I'll stick with the liquid product for the initial coat then. I don't really have a problem with the time to do it, it would just be nice to save it since I could do the whole vehicle in probably 20 minutes or less with the spray. The liquid product is...

    DGPS vs. spritz sealant

Anyone from AG at least able to help out here? Should I just call up AG and ask? Hoping to find this out by tomorrow morning.

    Happy friday!!!!

Happy Friday all. We're getting some cooler weather here which is nice. Highs in the mid-upper 70's this weekend (big change from 100+ last weekend). I'm taking the opportunity to do a correction & seal on the gf's Altima tomorrow while she's at work. Only bad thing is I have to get up and...

Plastic Bag Test - Do You Really Want To Know?

Ah I see what you're saying. Yeah I still have some of the Pinnacle equivalent and will try that out next time. I also will be using a new clay next time. My Mothers clay is shot, and I picked up some XMT speed clay to try out. My impression from the product page is that it might be more...

Plastic Bag Test - Do You Really Want To Know?

I felt the same thing on my 350Z that I traded for it. Of course even though it was silver you could see some pretty good orange peel as well and I had the same issues with the baggy test there. I'm definitely thinking now that I'm fine and was just confused and focused on the wrong thing when...

    DGPS vs. spritz sealant

I know the DGPS page claims up to six months life for a coat. Is the spritz sealant the same? I'm going to do a full clay, polish, seal, wax on the gf's Altima this weekend and it would save a LOT of time if I can get by with the Spritz over busting out the DGPS bottle and the buffer.

Plastic Bag Test - Do You Really Want To Know?

Thanks, I think that explains it. I'm not feeling bumps, just not a smooth surface and I think it is just orange peel getting magnified and it was throwing me off of realizing what I SHOULD be looking for.

Plastic Bag Test - Do You Really Want To Know?

So I have to ask, is the paint supposed to feel glass smooth with the baggy test after you clay? Or you just shouldn't feel any grit? On multiple vehicles now I've tried a baggy before & after (admittedly the thicker ziploc sandwich baggy type) and after vigorously claying an area with...
