it is a beater. 98 yukon with clear coat failure. i went outside to look at them again, and the more i look at them, themore it looks like scratches. so i am sure it is my technique. but still curious to see what happens here.

i am leaning towards the amount and kind of defects involved. rotary was the way to go for defct removal. you look at the results and say hey, wy not polish with rotary and see where that gets ya. in this instance the results speak for themselves.
now i am new to this, but i allways thought the orange peel efect came from the base coat and not the clear coat. so wet sanding would take place before shooting the clear. correct me if i am wrong.
