Fixed my Makita 9227C grinding noise

Well, I thought it was the spindle bearing, so that was about $10. Then I broke the housing due to improper support in press. Housing was another $10. Bevel gear was $30. Cord plug another $2. The learning and tinkering process....priceless :xyxthumbs: So I have $100 into a good working buffer.

Fixed my Makita 9227C grinding noise

I bought a 9227C from ebay for $50 knowing there was a "noise" issue. I thought I'd figure out how to fix it and maybe save a few bucks over a brand new one. I've put together a short video of what I did to fix the issue, which was the bevel gear. Also, I took the whole thing apart and found a...

Rotary polishing - globs flying out and drying

Thanks for the reply. The surface was clean. I hit it with 3M super duty rubbing compound and a wool pad. Now that you mention it, I'm probably using too much product. What is the proper amount? 6-8" line for 2'x2'? Apply to pad or surface?

Rotary polishing - globs flying out and drying

I'm buffing a boat and having an issue where I'm working the machine/polish and globs of polish fly out and quickly dry on the surface. It's hard to remove. Other than that, I'm pleased with the finish. More info: 8" 3M black waffle foam pad 3M perfect-it polish #2 Working at night with...

Gelcoat lightly oxidized - product/pad recommendations

Yes, actually going to start removing them today. I have a heat gun and 3M stripe off wheel. We'll see which is more effective. I've contact a MC forum member who does decals. I will be getting full set and installing this winter. Can anyone recommend a good paint/gelcoat sealant?

Gelcoat lightly oxidized - product/pad recommendations

I buffed a few test areas. This is my first time using a circular polisher so I need to practice a little more. I only spent about 4min on what you see in the pics. Step 1: 3M 05954 super duty compound with wool pad, circular/rotary from HF. Spet 2: 3M 06064 Perfect-It machine polish on 5725...

Gelcoat lightly oxidized - product/pad recommendations

Thanks. Do you think it would be a good product to use after a heavy cut compound? Seems like it is a fine cut with added protection?

Gelcoat lightly oxidized - product/pad recommendations

Hi, My name is Matt & I will be buffing this boat and need some advice on which product & pad to use. I will be using a PC 7424xp and it would be great if I can only make 1-2 passes. I saw a video where they used Pinnacle XMT 360 and it did it all in one shot. I'm wondering if this product...
