    Show N’ Shine Contest (August)

It's a 1965. You can tell by the grill. '64 didn't have the angles. I know because I have a 65 myself! Not that good looking of one, though :(

    Starting to detail for neighbors?

I started doing the same thing recently. Helped a coworker fix his truck paint. That impressed another coworker so much she had me detail her car. Then, as I worked on her car my neighbor came over and asked me to do his. If you pay attention to detail and take your time, people will take notice...

New to the UDM, questions... (pics)

I used 360 for the first time the other day with my PC. I noticed that on speed 5, I had to move quite slowly for it to break down. On speed 6, I could move about one inch a second and it would break down the XMT 360. It made polishing the whole SUV go very quickly. Also, it doesn't spread...

Lexus RX300 - Second Paid Detail!

Nice...that's quite a jump from supply to combat controller. I'm just a geeky scientist. You've probably seen some crazy stuff! Though I am proud to say that I have qualified expert on the M9, which is the only one they will let me qualify on. :(

Engine detailing mistakes and how to fix?

You could try PlastX, I use that to remove scratches in headlights and taillights. Barring that, wetsanding and hand polishing?

    How much sould I charge?!

The polishing is what takes the longest - it usually adds 2-3 hours-ish to my total time, but also makes the biggest difference. It's not my job either, just a fun side gig, so I dont stress how much I charge either, but like you I don't want to bust my butt for free! Good luck!

    How much sould I charge?!

Mazda3, I just started doing this exact same thing, except for I also do correction with a Porter Cable. I have charged $100 each for the exterior of a Celica and Lexus SUV, but did a wash, clay, polish with the PC, and wax. I would say that without correction using a machine $100 might be a...

    Profitability

That's why I wondered where he was located at, as that makes a big difference on how much you can charge. But I suppose if you attract the right kinds of clients and cars that will help.

    Profitability

Where are you located? Also, your idea of getting return customers for lower-cost wash and wax to maintain your initial correction sounds like a great idea. It will keep the income flowing in and build a customer base. If you have a helper I would hit those golf courses and things - he/she...

Back to Black! Detail on my first car!

Holy crap man. When I saw the XMT 4 I knew you had a job ahead of you...and those pads look like something Venom threw up. The work was worth it though, very nice job!

Gonna make the Purchase, Some Quick Questions...

The orange pad is by no means going to tear your paint apart. I've used it on cars of varying degrees of swirliness and scratching, (from light-medium to absolutely destroyed) and it has left them all looking better than when they started. It's like the workhorse pad of the detailers - I think...

    FLA detail supplies????

Autogeek's Warehouse isn't THAT far from Orlando, maybe 2 hours? You might be able to order and pick it up on site...you'd have to ask Meghan or someone if that would work. As the stuff you are interested is only available online as far as I know, that's pretty much your only option. Or...

How long do you guys work in your polishes?

I've also noticed that XMT 1-4 spread a lot more over a given area than XMT 360 (when you start using that) and have a more creamy (?) consistency. I also limit myself to a quarter sized amount or less, which seems to be a good amount.
