G35 with TERRIBLE water etching. Advice?

The new environmentally friendly water based paints suck big time. I went to a junkyard to find a trunk or fender to practice on. All the cars were about 2001/2002 or older. I tried scratching the surface with my nail just to see how durable they were compared to my car. I couldn't find one the...

G35 with TERRIBLE water etching. Advice?

Have you used the porter cable to fix major paint flaws? Most of the posting from various forum seem to agree that the porter cable doesn't have enough power to fix major issues. Otherwise, it might take much longer then it would with a rotary. I like my porter cable for detailing. Being a...

G35 with TERRIBLE water etching. Advice?

cdeftekar That looks really bad. I haven't seen anything that bad since the time my brothers black Lexus got hit with a egg. At this point it looks like there isn't much you can do without a full strip and re-paint. They might be some really bad bird crap left on there way too long.

G35 with TERRIBLE water etching. Advice?

So Builthatch what needed to be done with the SI? I am in a similar situation and having been stood up by two mobile detailers. I was considering giving it a go myself with my Porter Cable 7424. Using the Meguiars #80, #105, Polishing pad, and the w7207 cutting pad made for DA polishers. I also...

    Detail disaster

I had a light scratch on my passenger side door. I used a couple applications of scratch-x. It got it to the point where is was mostly invisible under most circumstances. However, I wanted to see if it could be wet sanded out. I took it to a detailing shop. The car hadn't been washed and there...

Polishin' Pal w/Cutting Pad to remove swirls?

A porter cable isn't all that aggressive. It is pretty much newb friendly and idiot proof. Someone said it best that the only way you can really mess up your car is to throw the PC at it. However, a porter cable won't be able to fix any major defects. Otherwise it will save you time and...

    Removing type water spots/etching

Type two etching. Actually cut into the clear coat. I tried some scratch x with a microfiber pad. The results weren't very good. And yes, I put some passion behind it. I've used it on other parts of the car with some success. I was thinking about moving on to the 105 with a Lakecountry orange...

Getting out minor scratches from windshield

The thing that gets me is that they claim that it will work with a porter cable. I find that hard to believe considering it isn't orbital. In order to buff it out there needs to be repeated buffing in that area. The other product I've looked at is this Eastwood Co. - Glass Polishing Kit Pro...

You tried polishing it? Which kit did you use?

    Sandblasted

I was looking at the diamondite kit. Even though it says it will work with a rotatary such as the porter cable. 7424. I have my doubts and at the effectiveness of a random polisher instead of using a orbital or drill. I have some light scratches on my windshield and this was one of the kits I...

Getting out minor scratches from windshield

New guy here. Has anyone used the diamondite glass repair system or something else to get out light scratches? I used a old ice scrapers and it left some light scratchs that are only visible in certain lighting and angles. Also, would a porter cable be sufficent? Thank you in advance.
