Collinite #845: The Definitive How-To Guide For This Legendary Wax

I've used it over PBBH with no issues on my black car.

State your name and Professional Occupation...

Ha...yeah...there are two different questions at play here. When did I start "detailing"? When I was 15 and got my first car. When the engine was out, I spent day and night under that hood cleaning every nook and cranny. Carried that over into my daily drivers as I got older. When did I...

Does paint on bumpers behave different??

2008 Honda Accord in black metallic...not noticeable to the average eye, but in the right light, it makes me abslutely nuts; the rear bumper to the rear quarter panels. I don't notice the effect as much on the front, but my front bumper has been through war--mostly road rash and rogue parallel...

Does paint on bumpers behave different??

That explains my bumpers. After a good wash and wax, the color of the bumpers is just a hair of a shade off from the rest of the car...cloudier, blue-er.

    dummy questions about collinite 845

Agree with the first two answers as well. My black Accord with a deep blue metallic fleck looks great with it. I also do it all by hand, using a foam applicator pad like this one... Pinnacle Foam Wax Applicator- Great applicators- Great results!

Opti-Coat/Guard, CQuartz, C1 and the Kitchen Sink

I've got Collinite 845 on my SS kitchen sink. Cleaned it, polished it out with Mother's and then topped it with the 845. Obviously, leaving junk in the sink is going to leave a mark, but it cleans up super fast and easy and lessens the amount of scrubbing needed for a real clean. I still want...

Anyone else use a crock pot often?

*no crock pot needed* 1 onion 1 garlic ground beef 1 can tomato paste 1 can tomato sauce (Cento brand San Marzano tomatoes for both...yellow cans, says San Marzano on the side) herbs (oregano, parsley, basil and a bay leaf) salt pepper 20 minutes Awesome gravy (spaghetti sauce) that's much...

    Speckles on paint

Is it tree sap? Being a city-parker myself, sometimes it's inevitable that you're going to park under some ridiculous city trees. I wish I knew more about them, but one type in-particular will leave a car looking like it was freshly misted with water.

    Whats your favorite car shampoo?

That's a good point and I was just thinking about this last night. How does hard vs. soft water affect a car shampoo's performance? Are there brands that work better with soft vs. work better with hard water? Poorboys Super Slick and Suds BTW.

2010 Black Honda Accord Swirl Mark Removal, Dr.Colorchip, and Opti-Guard - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Haven't tried it yet, I'm just curious. A lot of the videos and samples I see are small areas, even for the road rash repairs. My chips aren't any different--small, shallow, etc.--it's just that it covers a much larger area. We'll see this spring.

    winter storm warning

Only when it's raining, but not quite cold enough to be accumulating snow. At least when the snow piles up it becomes a beer day. Anyhow...the truck is packed and I should be down there by tomorrow morning. I like my eggs up and the toast slightly burnt. I'll bring some donuts.

2010 Black Honda Accord Swirl Mark Removal, Dr.Colorchip, and Opti-Guard - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Awesome...thank you. Do you happen to know how large of an area the road rash kit will repair? I know the website says over 2 dozen chips, but I'm talking about an entire hood. The paint's in good shape and all of the chips are small--like pin-size small--but after almost 120k highway...

    winter storm warning

Yeah, we're getting that too here in Philly. It's known though that the forecasters in this area (as opposed to any other?) are horrific. There could be a small cold front on the horizon and they just about call for zombie apocolypse. I even heard someone put out the french toast alert...

2010 Black Honda Accord Swirl Mark Removal, Dr.Colorchip, and Opti-Guard - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

Car looks awesome Garry...I have that color too and love the flake in it. I'm in the same boat as your customer though and will be looking into Dr. Colorchip sooner than later. How long did you wait to apply the Opti on top of the touch-up spots? Will that time differ from product to...

Yeah, I'm the same way. Even knowing what I know now, I'd have still gone with the black, but I'd have found AG a lot sooner. Between my bad wash habits in the past and 117k miles, she's seen a lot of abuse. I'm hoping to grab a DA this winter, but I'm still by hand for now. I've...

Nice. Do any corrections yet? I'm working with a 2008 Accord in black (Nighthawk Black Pearl). She's still a 30 footer, but it's only because I really haven't gone past clay yet. Any advise/experiences with compounds and polishes on that clearcoat? Particularly by hand?

So how does this work? Is it something where I can look it up and set up the garage and times? Or is it just racing through invites?

    car washing horror stories

I was the worst that I used to know. I've always tried to keep cars clean, but never really had the nicest car and never owned black. The only black car in the family was detailed by hand 20 years ago (and he did an amazing job from what I remember). Fast forward to my first 'new'...
