MINI Countryman and Collinite 476 by Machine

Mark, Collinite says the shelf life of a can of 476 is about 5 years and that if it freezes, to toss it out. I suspect the lifespan is limited by the slow evaporation of solvents and, if they use them, crosslinking of polymers as air seeps into the tin. Maybe you'd get a few more years...

MINI Countryman and Collinite 476 by Machine

Thanks guys. Yes, the 476 is supposed to be the most durable (AG's page says it lasts a year) and also the most difficult to use. The latter is why I chose to put it on and take it off with the DA polisher. In retrospect I feel I may have used too little in some spots and WAY too much on...

MINI Countryman and Collinite 476 by Machine

I've been slowly building up a layer of protection on our MINI over the last couple months. Today was the final layer. All that's left to do is the window coating with some Gtechniq G1. First order of business was a waterless wash with Opti-Clean and green microfibers with rolled edges. Once...

This Brand New Jeep is Ready for Winter

Funny, that's the one I checked for "blowout". Sounds like you're not in need of my unsolicited advice. I saw the watermark and thought they were for showing off. And yes, high noon isn't any photographer's friend. STILL, I really love that orange.

    Help Me Pick A Camera

Any of the D5000 or D3000 series are excellent cameras. Find your price point and then pick the one you want. The D5200 and D3200 are going to have the most features and refinements since they were just released. The kit lens (18-55mm) will probably last you a long time before you exceed its...

This Brand New Jeep is Ready for Winter

That's an awesome color on that Jeep. I just have one comment about the photos, not about the work... The exposure looks to be washing out some of the bright parts of the image and removing detail from the bright orange paint, especially where the shine highlights are. If you pull up the...

    Mike's Glass Cleaning Tips

Well I guess I can respond since I bought one. three different covers. a nappy microfiber, a satin weave microfiber, and a nylon mesh scrubber. The plastic, foam-covered tri-lobe pad is removable. And I'm not sure if it's just the combo, but mine came with an extra tri-lobe shaped pad in...

Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat: Permanent Tire Protection Made Simple

Wasn't questioning the validity, just curious about a more me-applicable scenario. And if those tires are 2 years old, I'm going to buy this s*** right now.

I hate to get political out of season and this forum is probably the wrong place for it, but "jokes" like this are essentially anti-government propaganda.

    One Panel Per Day?

I've been lucky actually. I have been doing one layer at a time. The newer of the dailies is really mostly done and this weekend will probably get a layer of Collinite 476 on the paint and some Gtechniq G1 on the glass. Then I can focus on the harder projects. The worst part is now that...

    Photography Decisions - Help!!!

Personally I can't stand HDR and I cringe every time I see HDR photos posted. HDR or not, I would do this: Keep the D60 and get a 50 f/1.8 (not 1.4) and spend your money on photography classes. If you want to spend the money on lenses, consider a superwide angle lens for really awesome car...

Einszett De-Icer contains 20-25% ethylene glycol (ie traditional antifreeze)... it's still toxic to humans and animals. It does switch methanol out for ethanol though. MSDS: http://www.1z-usa.com/MSDS/Eistau-De-Icer-Spray-940612.pdf
