Touch up paint. Do I need primer ?

I have to do a little touch up paint on my car and decided to go the manual route. Found a few guides on the net to build the coat slowly & then get some kindof seal or clear coat on top of the paint correction. Some of the guides mention primer prior to touch up paint some made no mention...

How long will unopened Detail clay last?

I'm looking Pinnacle @ BOGO. I've never used clay, but I already have clay bar kit for first pre-winter detail. If I pick up 2 of these for future use, how long will they last unopened on the shelf? Thanks

What do I need for wet sanding repaired paint chips and small scratches?

Have you tried the Langka chip repair kit? I'm thinking of picking that up. I have a paint chip I need to repair before Winter kicks in. I'm thinking about trying this product. Watched the application video on Youtube and it looks pretty simple.

Quick Detailer - How much do you use on your personal car

I'm looking at the Detailer’s Pro Series Rinseless Wash & Gloss. It looks like a good first product to try out. It's pretty inexpensive, and I can use it as a QD & Rinseless wash, which I'll need to get through the winter.

Quick Detailer - How much do you use on your personal car

I'm switching from a "zero care" car owner, to a try and keep a "detailed look" all the time car owner. Gonna get a thorough clay and seal coat & Finish and a weekly car wash. How much quick detail should I expect to use in an average week. Is it something that is used daiy, occasionally...

    Funky Smell???!!!!

I came across that experience with a family member. Pulled out the car mats and wash the heck out of em and put them in the sun til they were dry. It was a kid spilling milk on the floor that rotted out. Stunk to high heaven. It solved our car smell issue.

Detailing ... Blending old & new paint ?

I visited a body shop about my clear coat failure on roof. Might get it sprayed before the winter. The painter I spoke to said that the color will match but the top will look deeper because he uses more " clear coat " top than the OEM from factory. But won't have to worry about clear coat on...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

My wheel project is still crawling forward as I try available tools products on my first test wheel. Currently, found a 5" & 6" Sanding pad to mount on my drill and looking for Adhesive backed Discs. haven't found any locally, but online quantities are $25-$40 for 50 or 100 discs per grit (...

Can detailing fix a clear coat failure?

Will I need a power buffer to prep the paint before application? Or can I polish the surface by hand?

Can detailing fix a clear coat failure?

My roof doesn't look like the one in that photo. It's factory color with a dull white hazy pattern that is appearing in a few spots with what looks to be some small .5 mm or smaller holes spread throughout the haze. Like something that water bead burned through the finish in a few areas...

Can detailing fix a clear coat failure?

I got the Art of Detailing book and was thumbing through it, and learned that I appear to have clear coat failure on roof of car. My thought was that it needed to be repainted, but the book doesn't really say if there is a Detail technique to correct clear coat failure or not. After google...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

I don't " THINK it will seal the bright parts. I'm hoping it will. Mainly because it's the first order I"m placing with AG and I'll have some Klasse on hand to test out. I have no idea if it will work or not. I've only used Car wash, carnuba wax, and spray detailers in my younger years...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

Correct, it's not well thought out. I have zero experience working with metals, or car finishes to be well thought out. Got to start somewhere. 1) My wheels are pitted 2) I want my Rims looking better than they were before pitting. 3) I wanted to learn something through the experience of...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

Thanks, I'm still focused on the aluminum surfacing at the moment, but will deal with the painted surfaces when I finish tackling the aluminum. Shipping prices are a bit steep for trial & error of multiple chemicals, but I'll keep any recommendations in mind for that. Stopped by 2 auto...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

The pits are on the unpainted face of spokes surface of spokes and around the rim of tire. The painted center is pretty clean in center where spokes meet, but the space between the spokes are painted and that's where I have some pretty bad brake dust coating the paint. The aluminum wheel...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

That's right Dave. I'm focused on Sanding the Pitted aluminum to & buff the surface smoothe ( which I attempted yesterday ) , and clean & reseal the painted portion of the wheel when I get the aluminum finish to my liking. For now, I haven't touched the painted surfaces, but polishing the brake...

    Anybody restore Aluminum wheels wetsanding?

Thanks, Picture is worth a 1,000 words sometimes. What is that polisher. Is it a modified angle grinder with guard removed? Could you take a standard angle grinder and remove the guard. I might be able to pick an angle grinder up on the cheap. I can see how finishing my wheels would be "...
