Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

My apologies, I thought it was Suntek after I saw the box on the table. The installer does use that, as well as Xpel and 3M. He decided to use Xpel. He explained it has a longer warranty as well. I'm not worried about it. I'm very happy with the job. It came out beautifully! I'll get pictures...

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

I'm all set! I had the car buffed and polished at a reputable shop prior to me dropping it off at the place that is installing the clear bra. It came out beautifully. I also found out that the brand of clear bra is Suntek. I should be picking up my car this afternoon! It might be hard to tell...

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

This is what the installer said when I asked for his recommendation for a hood wrap. "Ok. For the hood, I will use a length of 36" film so I would say the max depth I can install with wrapped edges is 35". Any deeper than that and it would have to come off a 60" roll and the price would...

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

I'm going to consider a full hood wrap. I don't think I can afford to do fenders at this time. It's a lot just to do the bumper and 1/2 a hood. My car is so old, pre-cut templates don't exist for it.

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

I see. Very good info. Thanks for that! I forget the name of the type of solution, but I'm wondering if I need it. It's a product that takes off foreign debris / contaminants from a car. It's not for visible dirt. I've seen some people spray exotic cars before they vinyl wrap it. It looked...

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

I believe the installer uses Expel. I don't know what LSP is. Sorry guys. I already have Meguiars Ultimate Polish and Griots Machine Polish #3. Are any of these appropriate to use?

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

That's what my understanding was. The installer assured me that I wouldn't see the micro-scratches under the film. I trust him and his shop. I still want to buff it out first though :).

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

Am I being too anal about cleaning up the scratches I made? I thought a person wants/needs to have the car in almost mint condition to apply a clear bra.

Freshly Painted Car - Prep for Paint Protective Film?

Hey all, I recently painted my whole car professionally. I've been allowing my car to cure in my driveway un-molested for about 45 days before driving it anywhere. The 45th day will be around the 1st week of February. In February, I'll be wrapping the entire bumper and a 36" section of the hood...

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

I tried the wheel brush that was suggested in this forum. It works very nicely! It loosens the dirt up behind the spokes very well. Which makes it very simple to use a light spray mist from the pressure washer on it. it cleans up the rims without much effort! As far as the face goes, I've...

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

    1. Sonax works very well at removing brake dust, etc. I use it quite frequently to remove the heavier debris. 2. Yes, I thought a pressure washer would remove dirt without touching the rims. Which, it actually does, but leaves a small amount of dirt film around. I don't mind, I just...

That looks like a good product. What size did you go with?

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

I care about my rims, but I'm not going to be upset if they develop swirl marks. I only get upset if I see rock chips :D. I do detail my car, but I'm not very anal about it :). I'm actually the most aggressive when it comes to the interior! :P I've had powder-coated rims for the longest...

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

What do you coat them with? By the way, pictures were uploaded in my previous post. Just to be clear, a higher PSI won't help me in this case? The film is being tough because it's road grime? I won't even bother testing out the 1740 PSI if it won't do any use.

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

I have sonax, and it works great, but doesn't get the film of dirt that's left behind. That's exactly what I'm trying to remove! There is a small film layer of dirt.. Comes off with a finger or cloth, but not a hose. Yes, I use a power ball. It works just like a rag would. I never had a...

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

I'd like to keep one of the pressure washers, at least to remove the dirt it is able to still get off. Will a higher PSI just not remove the light dirt then? What about in conjunction with detergent? I used to do my rims with a mothers power ball and that thing works great! It just takes too...

Pressure Washer not removing dirt on powder coated rims?

Okay, I need a little help... I purchased a Sun Joe SPX1000 1450 PSI 11.5-Amp Electric Pressure Washer. I only got it to help remove dirt from my white powder-coated rims. It works great for the most part, but I'm having trouble with my white powder-coated rims. The pressure washer seems to...
