There was another thread on this recently. I use APC for soaking pads, then Wolfgang Pad Cleaner if needed. For MF's I presoak them in whatever detergent I'm using. I use a dedicated MF detergent.

Nailed it. It's the pressure of the compressed air that does the work. I'd suggest buying more pads while using the "cleaning on the fly method", versus the compressor route if your a weekend enthusiast. If you have a need for one around the house, maybe, but I wouldn't buy one for the sole...

Quite possibly. I can't set my brushes on the dirty ground and then scrub them. I also have other tools; wheel well brush, tires brush and lug brush. Cant clean my rims/wheel wells with out them.

The liners are awesome. Bought full sets for me and the wife's SUV. For mats, I like and have Lloyds in both of our cars for the summer.

I had one like that too, returned it after cleaning all 4 wheels for a new that didn't leak. I always wear gloves for these kinds of products.

I have Mike's book and it is a great help for someone new to the flex and it's accessories (pad recommendations as well).

Thanks for the input. It's primarily meant to help save time, obviously I don't want to damage anything. Do you use multiple mitts?

I'm sure most of what we do here is considered overkill to common folk, lol. I'm looking at it as a way to save time and not increase risk of marring/scratching. As this and the drying stage are the highest risk for me (And I'm sure many others). It's not a big investment either.

When breaking out the buckets for an extremely dirty vehicle, and not having a power washer yet, does anyone use a "fourth" bucket and dedicated wash mitt for the bottom (dirtiest) parts? (some might call it a 3BM if they don't use a wheel bucket or don't account for wheel bucket in the method...

I use a grit guard in my wheel bucket. My SRT produces way too much brake dust not to, my water is a very dark brown by then end of cleaning them. There's way more particles floating around in that water than my paint washing buckets. So if you believe in using grit guards in other buckets, no...
