Feel like my detailing skills are plateauing - Looking for a boost

Just when you think you are inside your "GENIUS" you will get Godsmacked! You think Mike Phillips wakes up in the morning and says " I think I got this detailing thing figured out. Time to do something else."

    APC and White Staining

Try using Meg's M39, it is designed to clean vinyl, rubber and plastic without dressing it. Rinsing with a soap/water solution of sorts to remove residue is NOT necessary! No chalky interior surfaces when used properly. I am obsessive when using apc if I am following with some kind of dressing...

    APC and White Staining

I too have had Meg's APC leave white chalky like residue on plastic and vinyl interior trim. I believe my dillution ratio was 8-1 or 10-1. Just to be careful I always follow behind Meg's APC with a light soap/water solution to get any residual cleaner left on the surface off. That seems to be...

    help pricing: Bentley Continental GT

Every car needs to be at least clayed so that it is mechanically decontaminated. You won't believe what comes off paint from claying even a brand new car that is sitting in a dealer's lot. If you are going to wax the paint, you don't want those contaminants floating around the surface.

    First really bad interior.

I once found a pork chop! In the trunk of a Prelude!!! It was the most disgusting smell on the planet. It was liquified inside a ziploc bag with the bone. This is what we use at work for stink: Got Stink | Auto Vaccine

    3d ultra protectant tire dressing

That is one hot glossy rubber tire you got there! Too much for my tastes, but still looks really good. Thanks for posting. I like to hear about 3D products and how they work for people. I don't know why, I guess I might have Autogeek Addiction Disorder.

paint peeled off customers car when removing 3m tape! customer is asking to pay for damage

Looking at the pictures, the paint was already failing. The tape just helped it move along. The paint quote is right. Professional shops have a lifetime guarantee (the good ones) on their work. They won't skip steps or practice poor technique. Everything has to be done accordingly to ensure...

    Can Polish go bad (expire)?

A good idea would be to date the bottles you have to know how long you have had them. It gives you an idea of how "fresh" the products are. If not you could just guess, I guess. Another thing I do is randomly shake bottles that I havent used in awhile just to keep them mixed. If anything it...

    Tire Cleaner Advice

That's why I use M39. If you are getting a bunch of brown out of your tire with a cleaner you are leading it to premature failure. Get a different cleaner. One of the bad ones that comes to mind is Eagle ONE A-Z wheel and tire cleaner. Nasty on tires. Great for getting wheels clean although.

    Tire Cleaner Advice

Meguiars M39 is a top shelf product for cleaning rubber tires. It doesn't leach out the tire's additives like some of the other wheel-tire cleaners out there.

    Tires Matte Finish

If I want a matte finish, I just clean my tires with Meg's M39 and that's it. The tires look as good as they are going to look "naturally" after they are cleansed. If I want a dressed look that is appropriate , I option for Meg's M40.

Well when you drop those names, something is definitely awry but a picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe the towel used has residues from a detergent?

    You can paint carpet/fabrics?

My question was " You can paint leather? What is the advantage to that?" The answer: "People do paint leather." I have the samples from the workshop. I should post the results.

    You can paint carpet/fabrics?

I attended a workshop today held by my employer. They are a very large but independent coatings distributor. So we learned how to paint leather, vinyl, thermoset plastic, carpet, and some other kind of fabric. I was blown away that people paint carpet in cars! I guess they flip cars to make a...

How much money for big rig detailing job

Big rig detailing is a little different animal than automotive. Less about the details. A lot of pressure washing, steam cleaning, and running a few microfiber rags over some dashboards and crevices. Not alot of precision involved, like you would provide on a car. Out here in Portland they get...
