    Section pass advice

I also forgot to mention that I was going to coat my vehicle in Cquartz uk. I did a test spot with menzerna 4000 and wg finishing glaze and wfg did slightly better. Don't know why. This is my first time with 5" pads and I'm enjoying how easy it is to control.

Sounds good! Oh, and one more question. Does wolfgang finishing glaze have more cut than menzerna 4000? I have both and it seems like finishing glaze 'finishes' better than menzerna.

    Section pass advice

Yeah, I was asking about how long it should take to complete a section pass. I figured someone would say that. I thought there was just specific amount of time for each pad lol. I've been doing 6-8 passes with semi slow hand speed and have been getting good results

    Section pass advice

Hey guys I'm curious to know how fast I should go to complete one section pass on a flex 3401 with lake country hybrid pads? I know the process should be very slow to complete one pass with an orange hybrid pad but what about a white pad on soft paint with WFG polish?

    Getting new car...need advice.

If you read around the forums there has been tons of people using a finishing polish such as Menzerna 4000 (or 3500) to polish out their Subi. Since we have soft paint it should be significantly easy to remove light swirls and marring compared to Audi clearcoat where it's much more difficult to...

I haven't tried the NanoSkin Pads but I've had a good time with the NanoSkin Fine Grade Towel. It would drastically cut down the claybarring process if I were to use the NanoSkin Sponge during the wash though. I need to check those out!

Yes, if you go that route then you want to wait to apply any kind of coating.

    Getting new car...need advice.

Hey! Congratulations! From experience, Subaru paint is thin and is very susceptible to rock chips and micro scratches/swirls. Theres no need to go more aggressive than Wolfgang Finishing Glaze or Menzerna 4000 followed by 4500. First time I did it I made the mistake of using ONLY one 6.5" LC...

How many pads do you normally use per car of the same color?

    2016 Subaru WRX STI

Ive actually seen some articles of people taking their 4 3/8" backing plates to a machine shop to get it shaved down and then wrapping the sides in electrical tape. Would be nice if they made 5.5" hybrid pads.....

    reverse osmosis filters?

Awesome, thanks for the helpful tips. I've been having issues with hardwater spots from the town I live in and would like a system similar to what you built. I also live in the same town as MuddyOldGoat and 480 PPM is unacceptable to me.

Lake Country ThinPro Foam Pad System

I didn't even know they existed until MarkD51 had brought it up to me this morning! Darn it!

From doing lots of research on the 4" backing plate, I actually found that it was a problem with the 6" changeable plate because there was an issue with the size of the shims but I believe Lake Country had already fixed it. Yeah, the pad was toasted and the foam began tearing itself away from...

    2016 Subaru WRX STI

Thanks for the helpful tips, Mike! I also read your article and I was actually going too slow with fewer passes than you. I'll try and get 6-8 passes like what you suggested and see how that works. I actually grabbed 4x orange and white hybrid pads for my arsenal but plan on picking up...

    2016 Subaru WRX STI

Yeah I'll actually give that a try when I do my test spot w/ Wolfgang TSW. I love the way it handles and feels on the road! My decision actually came down to a 2015 Camaro SS 1LE, 2015 Challenger 392 SRT 8, and the STI. Chose the STI due to the kind of weather we get here and the amount of...

Thanks, you too! I'm really digging that Hyper Blue you got there! I also have M105/M205 in my lineup as well! The 5" pads were actually a recommendation from a couple detailers here on AGO that also had the Flex 3401. One thing I do hate is how thin the paint is on the STI. I live 10...

Hey guys, This is my very first detail with the Flex 3401 so bear with me lol. My vehicle was only 1 1/2 months old and it was beginning to get swirls and such from the weather of New Mexico. I wanted to practice and see how well I could detail my vehicle before I apply Cquartz UK in the...
