Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

hokay.. question about hazing. i have no hazing on the car whatsoever except on the hood. the hazing is showing once the engine is warm. it is an aftermarket cf hood that has been painted and my thinking is that there likely is less insulation making the hood prone to hazing if any excess...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

Ok guys I definitely used too much compound then! Being new to this I wanted to make sure I didn't end up damaging the paint and I guess couldn't get myself comfortable with seeing so little polish applied to the car. (Forunately I was ok doing s with the wax or I would have had a hell of a...

ok well i tackled car #1 today.. fortunately ill be able to finish it before the "fight" taking a breather while the collinite cures. today was brutal. mind you its my first time using a DA let alone waxing a car... but I didn't think I'd take this long! I'm 14 hours in right now :) I know...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

cool i'll plan on going straight to compounding.. my concern was that being my first time i'd go too slow and the qd would dry up before i got to compounding, but i'll try to avoid rewashing. i didn't think about this before.. but the jet black car has a painted CF hood. Any precautions I...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

To clarify.. I'm trying to figure out if I will see any beneficial correction by just using a finishing pad or if I really need both a cutting and finishing pad per the pics i posted.

Thanks Don.. I think I'll give the ultimate compound a shot this time around.. You mentioned you only used a finishing pad.. Would you suggest that I use a light cutting pad? Or just a finishing pad?

duff - thanks.. i'll be sure not to unleash the compounds/plish/wax the way the legend himself does ;) thanks for the suggestion and meg products are easy and cheap to pick up so those are easy to go to.. i'm aiming for a one step? product (i hope i'm using that term right) this time around...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

second car.. really not sure if that is overspray or clearcoat failure on the hood and fender panel.. we never noticed this prior to an accident that required paintwork so I am really hoping its overspray or some sort of industrial contamination. It feels rough when I drag my finger across the...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

small update. finally got around to snapping a few pics.. i'll separate this into two posts to separate the cars to avoid any confusion. both are black e90 chassis bmws. the first being jet black and the second being black sapphire metallic. my understanding is the paint is considered...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

thanks don. i wasn't sure but noticed the uqd layin around the apartment so i mentioned it. it seems some people use onrww just fine as a clay lube.. i might pick up a basic qd or onr just to be safe. ok so i am missing a few critical steps.. this is where just reading and watching videos does...

thanks! "knew" most of it, but its nice to have it all so detailed and in order. makes me a bit more confident in what i believe to be correct. i'll post some close up pictures in the next few days. the paint isn't horrid as in hazy or but has its share of swirls, light scratches, deep...

Noob sighting: First time clay/wax and machine use :O

Been lurking for a bit now... In short social services should have taken my cars away from me by now. In my defense since owning them I've been working pretty ridiculous hours, I have not had access to a water source or electrical outlet, been in the brutal northeast, and have been in...
