Weirdest thing you found in a vehicle?

Its like finding the prop from Dumb and Dumber!... I havent come across anything too weird yet but did once discover a guys porn collection stored in his car in the same place he keeps his past church bulletins. He had one of those pimped out rides with the tv display up front and behind the seats.

    Collinite 845 Vs. Blackfire wax

For this reason, whenever I hand apply 845 I generally scrap a bit back into the bottle since its so runny at first and you always get more than you want on the pad. After scrapping, I "kiss" the vehicle all around to help spread the wax out. This leaves the round imprints of the pad which gives...

Where do you initiate your detail?

I do a walk around inspection and if needed spray the bugs with an apc and let dwell first before doing anything. First thing I always do is vacuum out the interior. I live in a coastal area so most vehicles I do almost always have a lot of beach sand carried inside of them. Its a pain to fully...

    Detailers Dream?...... Or Nightmare...

My first thought after I read that was after baking in that sun for about 2 years I wonder how much claying & glazing would be needed to renourish the paint

So you think your steamer is pretty good eh?? lets kung foo!!!

Here is the link where I purchased my VC4000 steamer. I called them up and the customer service agent talked with me about 5min about all the operations of the steamer and pros and cons. I was impressed that the agent knew so much about the product and had obviously spent some hands on training...

So you think your steamer is pretty good eh?? lets kung foo!!!

One more thing, the VC is also a continuous fill and I've had it running constantly for about 6-7 hrs 3 days in a row before without having to shut it off to cool down and refill. I just kept pouring in more water whenever it beeps at me. To get full blast pressure from it you do need to let it...

So you think your steamer is pretty good eh?? lets kung foo!!!

I have the VC- 4000 and I am so glad that I purchased that over the VX5000. The VC has a hot water injection feature so when Im doing carpets I can just spritz the really bad spots then steam over it to remove. Also when doing rims, steam alone wont always clean them off. It may just break down...

    Need help fast!

I wouldnt use 105 on chrome since 105 is a SMAT product; Super micro abrasive technology. The little particles within 105 dont break down and Im sure they probably would cause more scratching in thin metals like chrome. If you do want to try some sort of polish I would just stick to the DAT type...

If you can have only one compound... what would it be?

None of the above. Optimum Compound for the win by far! Ive use 105, UC, and Powergloss. If I need the opt compound to last a tad longer I just add a dot or 2 of powergloss.

    Polishing tight areas?

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser pads or the generic version does well for the tight spaces like under door handles and the skinny A pillars. Those type of pads are essentially 3600-3800 grit grade papers.

    Steam Cleaner/ Vacuum Extractor combos???

I just bought a VC 4000 steam cleaner and its done a lot of great stuff for me. Within the first few days I had it I got a call asking if I could remove the vinyl off of some ambulances and with the steamer I was able to! The unit I have has hot water injection with it so that way when I am...

Griots ORBITAL - Getting geeked out, right steps??

Im surprised no one has spoke up about this yet. Didn't anyone else notice that he said he got a 5.5' backing plate yet his pads are only 5'! Yikes! Your pads need to be bigger than the backing plate or else you risk having the backing plate hit the vehicle you are working on and that can cause...

Need some advice and input on this.. mobile detailing

I have a minivan I drive around to appointments nearby but do also have a 4 door sedan that I use frequently. When I take my sedan I always use a rinseless wash and just take a 5 gal bucket of water with me. That way I can refill my sprayer I use to apply the rinseless wash a few times and still...

    So Chemical Guys Eh?

721 "couldnt cut anything with it".. huh? Their 700 and 721 duo are my main products that I use. Maybe its because I live in Charleston, SC and it gets really hot and humid here. M105 and 205 combo doesnt work for me as it dries up too quickly and dusts like crazy. 700 & 721 though provide me...

What Kind of Dog Do You Have?

Detailed my FLEX 3401! Pics inside

I feel the same way. I'm scared to look at what my PC and Griotts look like now. I just started detailing professionally 2 years ago so I've had a lot of training miles put on those machines and some heavy duty professional use too. Im tempted to upgrade to a Flex or get the mini Griotts but I...

    Griots 3" DA and Brushes

Those PC brushes are only about 4 inch wide or so. I use mine all the time with a cordless drill. If you want a hook n loop backing brush I know that Chemical Guys sells one but its a bit pricey and Im not sure how soft it is. I've damaged some upholstered seats in the past using the white...

    Mr Clean Magic Erasers

I had a client say that the Mr. Clean erasers worked great for removing the scratch marks from underneath the door handles. I never knew what to think of that but I guess if they really are the equivalent of 3600 grit I guess maybe they could be safely used for that.

    Moldy Optimum Compound II

Thanks for all the comments guys. My company was featured on Living Social last weekend so this week has been a nightmare work wise for me. I never got the impression from the Opt rep that he was against me in any way. They still have a customer from me and I have a couple of gallons of their...
