    Moldy Optimum Compound II

I bought 2 gallons of Optimum Compound II a couple of months ago and have only used about 1/2 a gal. I went to refill my bottles today and was surprised to see that the top of the compound had mold all over it. I have noticed that the past few weeks the compound I have in my bottles I store in...

Pricing: $45/hr and $60/hr= ? per ln ft?

I operate my own mobile detailing business and have thus far primarily been doing automobiles. Im starting to get asked to do boats more often and I've recently discovered that my prices are way lower than most other people in my area for boats. I've been asking only $9/linear foot for a wash...

    Washing micro fiber Q??????????????

Fabric softeners, dryer sheets all have some form of animal byproduct in them and that's why their residue on your microfibers can lead to streaking or smearing. It's not a fun moment when you've been working on a project for 8 hrs straight and then instead of taking just 10 min to buff off the...

    Washing micro fiber Q??????????????

I always use that same stuff too Micro restore. I usually do a full load of microfibers at a time and just use the second rinse option. If you do a large load of microfibers at once there's usually a little bit of residue left on the agitator in the center of the machine but its always just...

    Pet hair nightmare.....5 hrs...

That shop vac looks like the craftsman vac that I use. If so it also has a blower feature. It seems like you spent a large chunk of time removing all that hair. Have you ever thought of opening all the doors then using the blower to blow out as much pet hair as possible?

Metro vac worth it for amateur?

I bought a Craftsman 16 gal wet dry shop vac with 240+ blower off of Ebay for only $60 brand new. Switch didnt work on it but since its a craftsman I took it to sears and they gave me a brand new one right off of the shelf. Thats what I use to extract when I clean the carpets during a detail...

    4" pads caused micro marring

Small pads on a rotary generate a lot of heat underneath them. So when using the smaller pads with a rotary be sure you are operating the machine at a slower speed than with the larger sized pads. If not you could easily cause a burn through but most often it just leaves behind issues like you...

    Smoke smell

What about using a dry thermal fogger like the Unsmoke electro-gen. It's originally designed for smoke damaged homes but have heard of it being placed in cars for about 5-10 seconds and then letting the fog do its cleaning thing. I'm tempted to buy one in place of an ozone machine. They run on...

Guess a Box & Win a Wolfgang Fuzion!

Wait is this going to be some kind of slight of hand trick? You ask us to analyze the position of the boxes over the next few hours so are the positions going to change? We need different views to see which box sits the lowest!... haha.. I choose box 3. Thanks in advance ;) !

Thanks Flash for inspiring my latest mental exercise. Just spent the last 30 min looking at different car bodies. My guess is that its either an Audi TT or the R8.

Is the glass master pro what everyone's using on their windows?

I liked mine while it was in one piece but where the black handle connects to the rest of the piece its just basically styrofoam inside. As I was removing a box from my vehicle the handle was sticking out just a tad and barely snagged on the door frame and broke off. I think its a great idea but...

    Spray paint

Would an aggressive type clay work? I teamed up with a local detailing shop in my area to get paint over spray off of 60 vehicles at a paper mill plant. One of the nearby factories had one of their huge towers painted and the over spray drifted a quarter mile into the parking lot. To get the...

GG 6" Rop polishing speed and model question

You're better off getting the Surbuf pads than the yellow ones. The Surbuf when used properly on some clear coats have more correction ability than the MF pads. Plus the Surbuf lasts longer and cleans alot quicker and easier than the foam pads too. If I had the money to do it, I'd have about 4-6...

GG 6" Rop polishing speed and model question

You are correct as you have experienced that when you apply too much pressure the pad will stop rotating with a DA. You only need to apply about 15 lbs of pressure for paint correction when using a DA. One way to learn how to calibrate this is to take your DA machine and put it on a scale like...

GG 6" Rop polishing speed and model question

3 probably wont be enough. Using a PCXP I generally polish at speeds of between 4.5-6 and then slow down and jewel the finish at speed 3 or 4. I do have a GG but haven't used it but have heard that one should use it at least 1 speed slower than you do with the PC. Every car's clear coat is a...

Need help or tips! Baked on adhesive! Quick answers please!

What about letting the solvent sit for a few minutes then using a steam cleaner? I've done this several times as it turns the adhesive residue into a gummy substance which can then be scraped with the plastic razor blade or rubbed off with a terry cloth.

    Carpets

I had a Bissell LGM that I used once and then set it on the top shelf. It was just too loud to comfortably use. It sucks up water ok (but not great) but for serious stain spotting you need a bit more. I detail professionally and what I use after chemically treating the carpets is a carpet brush...
