Need some opinions on going pro

To give you an idea I'm only 21, I still live with my parents. So losing a house wouldn't be an issue for now. I basically just have car payment, car insurance, phone bill, and an occasional credit card bill. So I only have about $450ish a month in bills. So I don't think that would really be an...

Need some opinions on going pro

I don't think I could get less hours at this job. I think he is keeping me so busy so I don't have time to do anything on the side in all honesty. I could probably get a part time job somewhere but I haven't looked to see if there is anything really open in the area. One other thing I had in...

Need some opinions on going pro

Hey everyone, so this question is mainly to those who detail full time. But anyone feel free to answer I could use all the help I can get and any opinions are nice. So a quick little back story, I'll try to make it short and sweet. I used to work at Best Buy, I ended up doing detailing on the...

    Glass Water Spots question

What's weird is that is almost exactly how I wash any car I do. I don't know what it is about water in this area but it is bad. Over where I live I have never had an issue with water spots. Even out in the sun. But here where I work, it spots crazy bad and we wash them under cover out of the sun...

    Glass Water Spots question

Hey everyone, so I had a question for you. I recently got a new job and have been cleaning some cars "professionally" for a little while now. The thing that stinks is the water causes extremely bad water spots, even on a heavy duty filter water spots are a pain, especially on the glass. It can...

Need some advice on job offer

Ok, so most people may have not seen my post. I got in touch with him and went over my concerns. He told me if I wanted to do a W-2 and be an employee we could absolutely do that. And if I wanted to be paid under the table so to speak and then just do taxes at the end as if I were self employed...

Need some advice on job offer

Ok, so he just got back with me and said he can hire me on as an employee of his other shop and then I would just do the detailing for him. So he would be taking care of taxes. So that takes any guess work out of it. Look like I will be putting my 2 weeks notice in at Best Buy today.

Need some advice on job offer

Thanks, that is the thing. As of now I'm miserable at BestBuy, days take forever and I can't stand walking in the place anymore. Whenever I do detailing I love getting to the place early just to get a good look at the car. And being able to step back at the end of the day and see what you did...

Need some advice on job offer

My hourly at best buy is $8.50 and he is going to pay $12. He will be covering expenses as well since he can get a lot of products at cost through his mechanic shop. He will indeed be covering the insurance side of things. I feel like I know if pretty well. The first day we talked, we talked for...

Need some advice on job offer

Hey everyone, so recently I started do some detailing on the side and it has been going really well. On the last car I did the owner of the shop where I did my work, saw the work and wanted to talk with me about hiring me to do his cars and company cars and possibly some other things like the...

    Stripe removal

Hey everyone, so I just got a "new" 2006 Mustang gt. I'll post some pictures up later in the post. It's tungsten grey and it came with matte black stripes. The stripes are in ok condition but they are starting to fade on the roof a but. I don't really care for stripes all that much so I thought...

Question on taking stripes off a car

Hey guys, I apologize if this is the wrong section for this. So I just got a new new car that has stripes on it. I think it will look better without them. So I'm going to take them off. Which is not a big deal I don't think. My question is how do I deal with the paint afterwards? It's a 2004...

    wet sanding clear coat failure

No, I may try to just wet sand the clear coat that is on there until I get done to the Color coat and then respray it with clear and then wet sand any orange peel off and then compound and polish. Were just thinking about what we can do. It's only his first car so it's not a big deal. We just...

    wet sanding clear coat failure

That's what I figured, We may just sand it down and respray it with rattle cans and then wet sand, compound and polish and see how that turns out. At least at that point the paint will be protected. It's his first car, so by no means will it ever be perfect. But maybe we can get it looking better.

    wet sanding clear coat failure

Hey everyone, so I had a question. My brother recently got a 96' chevy camaro rs and it has some oxidation and the clear coat has peeled in a couple places. About like what you would expect from a car that is that old that hasn't had an owner that didn't care for it. Not to say it's in bad...
