    Opti-Coat 2.0: Durability in winter?

John, do you get a lot of snow where you live? Our winters are some of the worst, tons of salt and calcium on the roads that are filled with slush, not to mention a lot of snow and very cold temperatures. I do understand Opti-Coat does not make the paint surface "scratch proof." My only...

    Opti-Coat 2.0: Durability in winter?

Does anyone have any information regarding any durability testing that was done for Opti-Coat 2.0 in the winter? Up here in Canada, our cars are driven in very harsh winters, therefore I would like to understand what kind of results I can expect if I apply Opti-Coat to a car that is driven all...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I wetsand with 500, 800, 1000 and 3000 using the Meguiar's Unigrit discs. I just finish the lights off with some Blackfire Wet Diamond. I don't understand why people say Opti Coat is expensive. You can do an incredible amount of headlights with one tube.

    Repairing "The other guy's" work.

I can't believe how badly that paint was hacked up. A show car finish is not always necessary. You are taking a paint full of holograms and buffer trails and leaving a nice clear finish. I think you're doing an excellent job!

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I have not yet used the Opti Coat myself, however I will be ordering it very soon and testing on a scrap headlight so that I can offer it to my customers. The process is not complicated at all, you wipe down the headlight with IPA to remove polishing oils or any dirt and then wipe on the Opti...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

I have restored headlights and they lasted longer than 1 year with only a sealant applied, no urethane. If a high quality sealant lasts just as long, there is no point in applying the urethane in my opinion. We have to keep in mind the spar urethane was not created to protect plastic...

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

Waxing does provide a barrier against the UV rays, so it should help. The reality is that if you do not maintain the car for the customer, they may not be waxing the headlights, therefore no additional protection is being applied.

    G37s "Sleeper" Sedan

Uh....yes I know it's a car....Uh....yes I know we detail cars... I was asking because he did not show any pics of anything related to having detailed the car, however he did mention now that he detailed it and done the mods on it which is cool.

Headlight sealant: spar urethane vs. opti coat 2.0

Definitely looking forward to updates since I am looking into offering this to my clients when doing headlight restorations. Can you use the same foam applicator pad several times? I would assume the coating will make the pad harden when it dries on it?

    Vapamore Steamers

CEE DOG writes awesome reviews, however I can tell you these steamers are very poor quality and for 300$ they are not that cheap.

    Vapamore Steamers

Vapamore steam cleaners? I used to own a Vapamore MR100 steam cleaner until recently...when it went to my trash can. First of all, the accessories were of very poor quality, I did not use it very often and the plastic broke on a few of them. Not only that, they did not hold very well and would...

A Good Ol' Boy's Work Truck

It came out great, I don't think I've ever received a tip when detailing. I think the headlights need to be restored, they seem fairly cloudy in the pics.

When doing a one step, what would you do in this situation?

Doing a test spot with the client is a good approach. I am beginning to do this myself in order to set the right expectation about what a 1 step on their vehicle will accomplish. I disagree with you regarding uneducated clients. The clients that are uneducated just want a clean shiny car, they...

Picking up this little red civic

Having owned 3 Hondas, (95 Civic Coupe, 2000 Civic Coupe) and my 96 Honda Prelude which I have owned since 2003, I can tell you they are very reliable cars. Excellent purchase and good work on the polishing.

    Jewelling - Definition

Mike, when you mention previous polishing steps, does that include removing any light holograms or buffer trails? Or is that reserved for the jewelling step? Also, most people usually mention jewelling with a rotary. In my mind, this means you risk causing new holograms.

    Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

You do not need to polish the lens if you are applying the spar urethane coating, it's the same as when you paint, you want it to bite into the surface. I am surprised nobody has tried Opti-Coat yet on headlights, since it should be a permanent coating. I have not tried it myself, however it...

    Opti-coat 2.0 question...

Chris, your customer service has been excellent. You had replied to some of my questions in another post also, it's much appreciated. Can we use an automotive wax & grease remover to prepare the surface for Opticoat? The same type that would be used in a body shop to clean a panel or bumper...
