New car - need new car cleaning tools

Hi, I didn't need to tape. Optimum products are generally safe on all but glass. Since I hand polished, coated and waxed, I could take my time around the glass. One of the benefits of hand work is no slinging from spinning wheels (which is why I wanted to get the car clayed, polished and...

New car - need new car cleaning tools

Hi, I bought a 2012 Volvo and after reading countless good ideas, chose the following products, virtually all from AG. There's many good products & approaches. As for me, who works 50+ hrs/wk, I wanted preservation of the new paint look more than the best deepest wax shine. I keep my car for...

Why can't I get my windows clean?

believe it or not, ONR. I tried Diamond Glass, and while it was better than the ol' Windex, it still left marks. I found that when I wash my windows outside and inside with Optimum's No Rinse as I wash our cars, I consistently get streak free clean windows. One car has a new windshield, the...

    Interior glass cleaning?

ONR? Just a first year detailer, so I may be naive. I tried Diamond Glass, and while it was better than the ol' Windex, it still left marks. I found that when I wash my windows outside and inside with Optimum's No Rinse as I wash our cars, I consistently get streak free clean windows. One car...

    Complete New Guy

Hi Complete new guy, I'm a relative newbie, so maybe I am wrong. I don't know if Dawn dishwashing is a good car wash to use on your paint. You might want to invest about $15 - $20 in a car wash product. I like ONR, easy to apply and wipe off water spots. To the pros out there -- is Dawn good...

    Wheel Brush - Safe?

Dan-o, oops! Thanks for redirecting me. Also, by searching for woolies in this forum, I found some good testimonies for woolies. Looks like another AG order is forming..;) (wife: :bat:) PS -- U have a cool user name! :coolgleam: Jim

    Wheel Brush - Safe?

Has anyone tried the "woolie" brushes on your wheels? They are in the AG store as Wheel Woolies 3-Piece Kit, wheel cleaning tools, wheel brushes

Can I apply Opticoat2 with microfiber pad?

Hi all, OC2 comes with a foam applicator. Has anyone tried to apply OC2 with a MF applicator? I'm thinking the mf pad won't "stick" as much. Right, wrong? :dunno: Thanks for your input!

New here and got questions, long

Hi "tach18k", I'm a newbie too, and use my 2012 car daily. You might want to consider putting a more permanent "coating" such as Opticoat 2 as the final protection. I can't say how it looks compared to the high-end wax look, but OC2 seems practical protection for us who drive our cars daily...

What did I do wrong? New car paint now has scratches!

Hi guys and gals, RE: claying, fprintf said he saw scratches when he started to clay...are there less aggressive and more aggressive clays? Could that make a difference in whether the clay scratched the surface? If so, is there some chart showing less aggressive and more aggressive clays...

Review and Extreme Testing: Opti-Coat 2.0 and CQuartz

Corey, this is a classic thread. I've looked at it numerous times as I consider OC. Nice to see one of the "good guys" who put in the time for others was recognized this weekend. A thankful newbie!

Can a newbie realistically apply Opti-coat?

Hi, for those of us from Missouri (show me), here is an excerpt from the Optimum website re: going from an Optiumum polish directly to OC. Chris, who replies, is one of Optimum's key peeps. Old Tiger knows his OC!:props: Posted 01 February 2012 - 09:59 AM Really considering using Opti Coat...

Can a newbie realistically apply Opti-coat?

Jim (old Tiger), you just saved me $$ by reminding me to use ONR as the clay lube! Did you know that by doing that you helped keep a marriage stronger?? ;) Saving the $$ also makes the upcoming order a little more palatable to my wife -- who is wondering if I have lost my senses lately...

Get a new car off on the right foot

Paul, Good question that I would have tripped over when I got ready. Hope some of the pros can help us with the answer! :help: . Are we supposed to apply polish to the plastic triim between the windows? How about Seal? Wax? Coating (ie, like OC)? Thanks as always!

Get a new car off on the right foot

Hi Ken, check out autopia's website, and search for polish chart. It shows a nice chart of polishes for each product line with their aggressiveness to paint -- and I think it is more up-to-date than a similar chart on AG's forum. Also, if you go to the AG store and select the Menzerna...
