Not sure if somebody said this yet. But why don't you clean the trim. Then tape it up polish the truck Then apply whatever to the trim. Do it slow and neat. Anything that gets on the paint use spray wax to remove.

I have the same issue with mine. On another thread they said to put Vaseline on it. I'm so thinking the washer would fix the probem.

The same thing happens with mine. My only compliant about the tool..

I use the 21 with the 15 backing plate.
