Car Wash Nightmare.... Just how bad is this?

I couldn't agree more Scott. I have seen catastrophic tire failure at highway speeds in person and don't ever want to experience it myself or have a loved one do it either. It just reinforces my belief in checking all vital parts of the car on a weekly basis or every time I refuel my cars (which...

Car Wash Nightmare.... Just how bad is this?

Thanks Mike, I figured that would be the best approach. I'm counting my lucky stars and buying lottery tickets as I dodge a bullet on this one. Just like you, I'm big on the "better safe than sorry" approach, multiple layers of sealants & waxes as well as weekly hand washes. I'll wash it, polish...

How to get dried wax out of cracks?

I use a cheap, plastic comb covered with a small MF. This works well for most crevices I have found. For really, small/tight spaces I use a toothpick covered with a small MF. Though after reading Jfelbab's post, I'll be trying the eraser method!

    Washing Towel Frequency?

I wash all of my MF's after each use when applying wax/sealant, QD's, and cleaning/protection products. Drying MF's (used for drying the outside of a clean car) I wash usually after three uses (same day, weekly washes).

    Washing microfiber

I use my front loader HE washer for my MF towels. I used the "hand wash" cycle on it with standard HE detergent and dry them on the "air dry" setting in the dryer. I've been doing this for the past two years and never had any issues with the towels being damaged or their surfaces degrading.

    car wash brush?

I have the boar's head brush with the extension pole. I love it and haven't seen any issues with it scratching the paint on my cars. However, as Buckskincolt said it is wise to soak the brush in warm, soapy water (like your wash bucket) for a few minutes before using it.

Car Wash Nightmare.... Just how bad is this?

Alright folks, here is a cautionary tale and a question all rolled into one convenient post for you. I am a generally clean person (maybe a little cleaner than most as my wife calls me "OCD" when it comes to cleaning) which translates to both my home and my cars. I am the car guy, I love to work...

Which Detailer's(DP) products do you use?

Waterless Wash, Interior Surface Cleaner, Interior Surface Protectant, Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner, Wheel Cleaner and Max Wax. In my opinion it's hard to beat the value in these products: easy to use, looks good, great price and they all smell good!

My 90 day waiting period is approaching and I need sealant.

If you are looking for durability with a great shine and easy application I would recommend Meguiar's Synthetic Sealant 2.0. I use it on all of my cars and top it with Collinite #845, a combo you can't beat (in my humble opinion).

What's the best wax for a white car?

+1 for Collinite 845. For a little more of a wet shine look you can top it with Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Spray Wax.

    Boarshair Brush

I've been using the boar's hair brush with the extension pole for the last two years. I use the bone sponge for smaller, hard to reach areas but mostly use the brush. I use the two bucket method with grit guards in both and Meguiar's NXT soap. I fully corrected the paint on my cars two years ago...

    MF towels in the dryer

I have a newer high efficiency wash and dryer. I use the low heat setting and they dry just fine in one 45 minute cycle. Been doing that for the last two years and haven't had a problem yet. If you're really concerned about them and you have one of the newer high efficiency washers and/or...

    Business Cards Under Wipers?

I wouldn't recommend it. I can't stand it when I find something under my windshield wiper or in my door jam. I have to agree that it's best to let those who care about their cars find you. Just my $0.02.....

Website Design - Flash Based or Simple?

I do some programming on the side and I have the second the caution about flash. I only use flash for certain types of sites as it presents some unique challenges as stated above in this thread. If a client has their heart set on the use of flash I'll do it, but it's certainly not my go to...

    How to properly clean pads?

I clean them on the fly with a clean towel during my correction/polishing ops. Once I'm done with the ops, I spray them with Meguiar's APC, scrub them with a soft nylon brush and then soak them overnight in a water/detergent mix. Then I toss them in the clothes washer a normal wash cycle with...

    Favorite Products for Black Paint

So glad this thread popped up. I've been looking for something to make one of my black car's really pop and there's some great info on this thread. Up until now I had used Meguiar's Synthetic Sealant 2.0 topped with DP Max Carnuba Wax. The results were good, but I really want more pop to the...
