Great info, Ive ordered the 61384 as well. Ive been having good results with the Meguiars pads on the rotary, Im really curious to see how the rotary attatchment will do.

Thats interesting, in the other thread mentioned it looks like something was broken/sheared off. If anyone has one that has broken I would be interested in taking a look at it, possibly repair it

Looking at a parts breakdown of the 7424 it looks like its just pressed in. The assembly in the parts breakdown actually shows the spindle and bearings as all together (sold as an assembly) As mentioned it could have been the odd mix of tolerances or who knows.

I think with the speed set to max and lots of pressure with a rotary is a recipe for burned paint on about any surface. Ive just started myself and use a rotary, gotta use a little caution and less speed. I believe max speed on the Dewalt is 3k rpm and Im pretty sure that there are no pads...
