HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

I actually watched those videos via youtube before taking this project on. I'm doing the right amount of section passes and am pretty sure I'm doing everything else right, but is it possible I have the wrong tape? It appears to be a haze where the tape was once I pull it off. I am using regular...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Quick question, is it normal to see a slight haze over the treated area? I can see a clear difference between the area I worked on and the area below it. And the area below it is not hazy.

Alright guys, thanks for the quick replies. Will try white first then move to orange. Starting with scratch x, wish me luck!

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Well I am, but am considering using a higher cutting pad to get some clear coat scratches out while I'm at it. Would Orange be the right pad and Ultimate be the right polish? Should get out the marring and any swirl marks/scratches right?

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

I will start with Scratch X and if it is not giving any decent results I will switch over to Ultimate. Will Ultimate get out minor clear coat scratches too? Might as well try and get some of my clear coat scratches out while I'm at it. Oh btw, the ONR lube is working much better, getting a lot...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

I'm pretty sure now that they aren't scratches or at least preexisting scratches as they appear to be more of a smear than scratches. This is likely what these are, will try ONR lube, and Z-8 (car shampoo) diluted as lube as well. Will post the results.

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

It's an 09 BMW 335i. Monaco Blue (dark blue). The paint is somewhat soft but not so soft compared to other car companies. I don't think it's a paint issue, as I've clayed the car before and never seen this degree of marring...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Wish you were too! This is so depressing! Going to have to step up to the plate on that polishing. Thought I would have many months to practice on the beater but apparently not.

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

It's definitely not smeared onto the surface (as opposed to into the paint) because I can't get it off. Am using Zaino clay bar with Zaino quick detailer. I'm thinking the Zaino clay bar is just too aggressive or something. Very frustrating. No, I've never had this amount of clay marring...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Could this have anything to do with my halogen lights? Maybe too much heat or something? This is so weird, I never have had this happen...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Still working on it, got half the car done. Will start letting the clay glide as opposed to applying pressure. Also, I did change the lube where the pic was taken so I'm going back to my old process. Getting less and less marring with less and less pressure, so i think that was a problem too...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

Okay, what am I doing wrong here, I am getting marring on about half the areas I clay. I am applying less pressure and it's not as significant as the marring in the pic but it's there. Any ideas?

Thanks a ton guys, going to pick up the scratch X and Meg Ultimate Compound now. Will clay whole car and try the polish once done, will include photos of said results too. Nice response time too! :xyxthumbs:

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

What color pad? Have a Porter cable but am fairly new to it. Also, what brand polish? I would have to go buy some somewhere locally.

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

I applied slight pressure, not real hard. And it was not there before I clayed it. Strange thing is it didn't do it anywhere else... and I applied the same amount of pressure as the other places. *edit* What kind of polish could I find somewhere locally? Like autozone or something. And will a...

HELP! Is this clay marring or scratches? (time an issue!)

I have clayed my car many times before and have never seen marring to this extent (if it is marring). I just finished claying this area and there are either scratches or marring now there: If this is marring, how can I get rid of it? I tried going over it again with clay, tried going over it...
