New to machine polishing, some questions....

No matter what machine you use. Just do a test spot starting with the finest pad and finest polish you have and keep going up in grit and coarseness until you get what you want. Then, that is the pad and compound choice you should go with. In the end, what you’re doing is levelling paint. You...

Deep talk about wheel cleaners - alkaline, acid, pH levels

Just to give you an Idea as to what you are working with. Household bleach (javex,Clorox) is right around 12 ph full strength. At 13-15 you are getting quite alkaline (lye). On the other end of the scale is acid. Think vinegar ph 3-4, or hydrochloric acid. Ph 0-1

    Cleaning tires and rims

Not a bad idea at all as long as your set up with a proper jack and jack stands so you can do it safely.

    Cleaning tires and rims

If your cleaning a car to go to a show, or the barrels need actual polishing then I take the wheels off. Other than that, just buy a good set of wheel woollies, including one with a flexible handle, and a set of detailing brushes for lug nuts and super tight spots.

Any suide or soft padding tap to cover plastic vaccum end?

What mckobe said. Just use some fine sandpaper and sand all edges smooth. Or you can also take a little bit of duct tape and wrap the end a bit. I dint find that the ends bother the panels much, it’s seats you need to be careful on. A tiny snag on the end of your crevice tool can...

Been a while since I've been behind the machine - Looking for advice

Paul A is right on the money. Just do a test spot. If your looking to remove paint defects then a little down pressure won’t hurt at all. You generally want about 15 pounds downforce when correcting. Remember, your Griot’s Machine weighs around 5 pounds, so you’ll want about 10 more...

15 years ago. I was flying around a big bend on the highway on my Harley, and a Wild turkey flew up outta the ditch and knocked me off my bike at 65 mph. I pretty near didn’t make it. I’m lucky to be here today. I hate birds!!!

    Masking for Iron-X

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Just try to avoid soaking the brake components with it. If you want to really blast your rims with it then maybe, but I myself have not experienced any issues in this regard.

    Glitter!!!!!! Aaaaaaargh!!!

Ok guys, after fighting glitter most of the afternoon, I’ve decided the best way to deal with it, is not to take another job that requires glitter removal. Lmao! The lint brush Idea worked well, as did duct tape. The duct tape is a little aggressive though,(pulls up a lot of carpet fibres)...
