What is your all time favorite product?

I guess I'd have to say the polishers (DA, Flex, Rotary). Without the machines, we wouldn't have these marvelous finishes to protect. Of course, without the other products, we'd just be burning the paint. Jim

    Comments welcome on this post.

Shine appears to bark a lot. Disagrees with any opinion but his own. Only believes in Carnauba waxes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not their own facts, just their own opinions. Life is too short to get into fights with highly opinionated people. As I learned watching...

    need advice about my car

There's only 2 ways to do steps. 1. Do a step or two of your procedure on the entire car and then do more the next day. 2. Do part of the vehicle completely. Since you may have to wash and dry the car every day, option 2 is your best bet. Example: Do the front clip through all the...

First time polishing - caused swirls

A Brinkmann is just a light. It can show you a result, but it won't help you solve your issue. What you needed to do was to stop at the end of each phase and check your work. That's the only way you'll know for sure which step actually introduced the swirls. Once you know, you can re-do that...

    Help with Microfiber, and trim!

Did you remember to clean out the lint trap in the dryer? Wash them again. That should loosen the white stuff. Make sure there's no sources of lint in the dryer, or just air dry them and see how they look. Jim

    Flex3401vrg or Rupes Bigfoot?

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you enjoyed it. Did you pick a camera yet? I talked to Mike Phillips earlier this week, and I'm working on some detailed explanations about how cameras, forums, sites like flickr and photobucket really work in an effort to help everyone on the forum be more...

    Flex3401vrg or Rupes Bigfoot?

Sorry that I closed the first post before getting it on the forum. Back in February, I faced the same decision as you. My wife had gotten her old Pathfinder rear-ended, and after looking at how minor the damage was on her car, and the fact that the 2011 Xterra that hit her was a total loss...

    Flex3401vrg or Rupes Bigfoot?

Hi Haz: Well, I had an entire post ready to go, pictures included. But, when I was trying to load the last photo, I clicked in the wrong spot and closed the window. I have to go to a customer site, so I don't have time to recreate the post at the moment. Since you still have time, I'll get...

MSDS Sheets & the like... What's in our products?!?

That may be more work than all vendors want to do. We're in the middle of replacing the business software for one of my clients that sells lots of industrial chemicals. They've always had the MSDS sheets for their products stored in their own systems. We decided that those sheets (BTW...

Detailer's Road Kill Bug Remover - The New KING of Bug Removers

I don't encounter many bugs driving around in Metro Phoenix. I think it's too hot for them. They all moved to Florida.:bolt: During the course of the year, I have to make a few trips to Tucson, and I don't really pick up many bugs on that trip either. So, the best way to eliminate the bug...

    DSLR lens for automotive photography/detailing

BTW, your lens should have markings on it, designating the current setting of the lens. If you want to see what a 35mm lens looks like, just set it to 35. Likewise for a 50mm. The higher the number, the smaller the field of view. Jim

    Water test kit

Calcium and Magnesium combined are the Total Hardness test. It's the minerals that cause water-spotting. There are 2 kinds of water treatment solutions available. One softens the water by substituting salt, the other de-ionizes it (removes the calcium and magnesium ions). What you need to...

    DSLR lens for automotive photography/detailing

Mike: I've seen a few camera threads on here before. You are going to get good information intermixed with bad information from the members, who, after all (with some exceptions), aren't photography experts. Best bet is to educate yourself using one of the professional grade photography...

    Water test kit

Those were today's readings. I've tested the tap water before and seen as high as 200 PPM on the Total Hardness test. Calcium and Magnesium are what causes water spots. Since there's lots of pools in Vegas, there should be lots of pool stores. You should be able to pick up that kit at just...

    DSLR lens for automotive photography/detailing

Your 18-55mm kit lens already has a pretty wide angle view at 18mm. 8-15mm are mostly the realm of fisheye lenses. What are you trying to accomplish? For more reach (zoom) you want higher numbers. If you really want to catch those up close paint imperfections, you might want to consider a...
