Repainted panel- what in the world.

No problem with the questions... here goes: I have the Flex 3401, it's the only polisher I have. 6.5 pads, only size I have but I have pretty much all of the lc pads with the pockets in them. I do not have wool or mf pads. My Flex is a little funny, so I can't tell you what speed I'm working...

Repainted panel- what in the world.

I worked the hell out of each product every section I attempted as well. Work area was very small. There is something about these repainted panels that I just don't get. Is 205 SMAT? Does a black pad have any cut at all?

Repainted panel- what in the world.

I'm at my wits end. Seriously. Today- Tried white/205. Then 105/orange followed by 205/white then sf4500/black. Then again 205/black. I'm using a Flex. I erasered every time. The swirls are still there. I don't even know how to explain it. I'm REALLY starting to wonder if my bodyshop...

Repainted panel- what in the world.

Yes sir, I clayed a few weeks ago, but I wash my car probably three times a week (ONR). I'm constantly out there toying with things. It really didn't need clayed that bad when I did clay it. Pads are clean. I mean they worked fine on other panels. I use a pad conditioning brush after every...

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

This post describes what my gut has been telling me, at least as far as how far you need to go to properly prepare a surface for a coating. Great post. TBH though, should I ever use a coating, I'll probably end up doing some sort of wipedown, just for the simple fact that I've never applied...

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

The reason I asked is because personally, I recall a couple threads where guys' coatings didn't last very long. Eraser came up as one of the possible explanations. However, there seems to be quite a few who have used it successfully, so who freaking knows man! I wish guys like Dr G would post...

Help with wax/wash process- about to give up!

Damn it's my one year anniversary on here, just realized!

Help with wax/wash process- about to give up!

Manman, why don't you try another mitt just for the sake of it? I use a $3 mitt from Walmart and love it. I think it's chenille or whatever.

Repainted panel- what in the world.

4500 was enough to rid the paint of minor water spots and super fine swirls on other panels of my car, just for the record. It was pretty surprising to myself. If there swirls were in fact there already then a white pad with 205 probably isn't going to work since I used 205 and orange already...

Repainted panel- what in the world.

You would think if it was so soft that black with sf4500 would do the trick though no? Someone else in another thread suggested that maybe the swirls were there to begin with and I just never got them out. I'll do some more testing in the next couple days. I'm pretty anxious to see if I can...

Help with wax/wash process- about to give up!

I'm not that knowledgable, yet, lol. Seriously, this is a great post. I've considered that maybe they were there to begin with but it looks a lot different to me now under the Brinkmann that it did beforehand. You might be right though. In fact I hope you are. Tomorrow or the next day I'm...

Help with wax/wash process- about to give up!

Manman- I made a thread, but I just wanted to let you know that the panels I'm having trouble with are ONLY repainted panels. Check out my thread for me info if interested.

Repainted panel- what in the world.

I would have tried something else tonight, but it was getting too late to be outside polishing. I'll probably try white and 205 next, but man, I don't have a lot of faith at this point. I guess I'm hoping someone can offer me some until the next day or two when I can try something else.

Repainted panel- what in the world.

Car-04 Nissan 350Z (black). Last night I was bringing the paint back to its maximum potential. Most of the panels received SF 4500 on a black pad. It worked flawlessly. My rear quarter is repainted and it looked awesome too, until I used Carpro eraser. Swirls galore. Tonight the same...

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

For whatever it's worth, it does allow you to check your work. I can verify this to the absolute fullest extent after last night and tonight. Major swirling showed up after I used 205/orange and sf4500/black. I wiped up the polish twice, very thoroughly, before using Eraser and BAM! I'm...

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

Thanks for the informative post. So you think I should try panel wipes? I've just recently started to hear about these on the site. I'll check the store and see what they have to offer, hoping they're not too expensive.

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

I've heard this, but don't really want to be restricted to just Optimum polishes. I love their stuff, in fact it's what has got me into detailing. I've never tried any of their polishes though. Some day.

Help with wax/wash process- about to give up!

Do coatings really offer some level of scratch resistance? I have never used one and I'd love to try one at some point, but it's probably going to be awhile. It would be interesting if manman tested this on one of his panels to see if it helped prevent these tiny scratches. Manman--...

It might have been a bad idea to get a Brinkmann

I agree about your comments about the sun and Brinkmann. You can't move the sun like you can move the Brinkmann. The Brinkmann actually makes it look worse in my opinion, possibly due to the temperature of the light. It turns black paint light greyish. My paint is full of what I think is...

IS OPC okay to use in place of IPA?

Chris, I know this is an old thread, but I have some more questions relating to the topic. I'm trying to figure out the best way to check my work after polishing and to strip a surface should I ever want to use a coating. I never have up to this point (used a coating), but I want to know...
