HD Speed or D166 and LC ThinPros to start

Yeah, I've heard that HD Speed has very good protection longevity, but maybe the D166 is still too new to say it's less than the HD? How do you feel the MK360 fairs comparatively? As for the pads, it seems like it would be good for me to have a mix of the black, white and orange. Maybe start...

HD Speed or D166 and LC ThinPros to start

For a softer paint (Kia, Subaru), I'm wondering what set of pad colors to buy/start with for either of these two AIO's. I was thinking a set of Blacks and Whites. The Red might not be helpful for other than applying a wax or sealant and I thought maybe the Black could be used for that anyway...

    Modern Plastic and Rubber treatment?

I've read that modern (my vehicle is a 2014) plastics and rubber parts used on cars typically have UV inhibitors engrained into the materials and many of the window glass also has UV blocking coatings. What's the point of using detailing products that claim UV protection? What products...

Road film left after using ONR

Mike has said in I believe that post or others on a similar subject that clay will only remove topical contaminants. To remove sub-surface contaminants AND road grime, you have to use a paint prep, cleaner, cleaner/wax, polish, AIO, or compound.

Road film left after using ONR

Oldie, but goody thread resurrection, but this prior poster's question didn't get address and after reading through Mike's posts I started to wonder the same thing. If you have a coating, what do you do to remove road grime without potentially impacting the durability/longevity of the coating?

When using tap water how would you know if you're using too much or too little ONR?

Jescar Micro Finishing Polish (+ special guests) - Review

hopefully not diverging too much from the thread topic, but yes, we're very excited to see the new fountains and will probably wait until the fall to go after some of the initial fervor dies down - hopefully :)

Jescar Micro Finishing Polish (+ special guests) - Review

Angus, Thank you for the explanation! So for the LC cross-over for this based on David from LC: Jescar Compound : microfiber cutting pad (heavier defect removal) or HDO Blue (for light defect removal) Jescar Polish : HDO blue pad FYI - I see you're from Chadds Ford - love it down there...

Jescar Micro Finishing Polish (+ special guests) - Review

Angus, what do you think you could do to reduce the amount of passes, but still yield similar or the same results? A different pad or polisher? Would a rotary have expedited one or both steps?

stuff slide around in the back of SUV.

I weigh just under 200lbs and I was able to kneel on the sides of this crate when open without it buckling or collapsing. ...also the Clever Crate, but might not be as sturdy as the Insta-Crate due to the perforated sides:

stuff slide around in the back of SUV.

Look for the Insta-crate at your local Costco. They fold flat, but are really sturdy. $7.99/ea. I bought two and they fit perfectly behind my back seats in my '14 Sorento.

Jescar Correcting Compound and Micro Finishing Polish - Top Shelf Abrasive Technology

Thanks Mike! How would you classify this Camaro's level of paint hardness? Some here have suggested that the Micro Polish alone may be enough to correct softer clear coats (like purportedly on my '05 Subaru Forester and '14 Kia Sorento) and using a White or maybe Orange LC Force Hybrid. Or, I...

Rotary Pad-ucation - from none to some?

I wound up ordering some Poli-Seal on the 25%-off/$5 ship AG forum member sale yesterday along with the Ceriglass, 5" Rayon pads and the 5" rotary Evolve backing plate. I had some difficulty in figuring out exactly what pads I could use with the 5" backing plate and the Poli-Seal. I got a bit...

Rotary Pad-ucation - from none to some?

Also, If I'm dealing with softer paints, from what I've read so far I need to maybe be more critical of the chemistry of the chemicals I use. I guess I may need to ask Jescar, Optimum or others what of their line would be most compatible with softer clear coats.

Rotary Pad-ucation - from none to some?

The Sorento is a dark titanium silver and the Forester is silver. Okay on the soft paint; I intended to get the softest pad available and try that first with whatever product I was going to start with (compound, polish or AIO - not sure yet). I'd set up the machine with the softest pad available...

Rotary Pad-ucation - from none to some?

I just borrowed a HF rotary polisher from a friend to use to try to polish out some scratches on a sliding glass door on my house. I'll be buying the LC R4 Evolve 5" backing plate, Rayon 5" pads and Ceriglass. With that said, I started to look into what I'd need to outfit this rotary with small...
