Help! I can't get the rust off one rim

I've only tried acid-based wheel cleaner and high pressure wash. Barely made a dent. These are chromed alloy with what looks to be argent-painted inner surfaces and are found on 01-03 Sevilles and a few other models. Being factory rims I'm assuming they are clear - coated.

Help! I can't get the rust off one rim

Is Iron X paste strong enough to remove a thick build up? There's so much I can scratch it. The only application I've read about was removing invisible particles from paint.

Help! I can't get the rust off one rim

How did that work for you on clear - coated polished aluminum?

Help! I can't get the rust off one rim

I would have thought this was fairly common and pros would have experience. Am I the only idiot to drive around with a grinding brake due to temps being too cold to do a brake job? I did try searching old posts but all I turned up were questions about keeping rotors from rusting.

It's there much difference in backing plates?

Got a part number for those? They're not in the Store and looking at the 3M website I don't see a standard 5" hook/loop backing plate with holes. They do have a low-profile one (05855)--is that what you use? Durable?

Tips for working in warm/hot weather or direct sunlight

Since a correction involves hours of effort I find parking under a tree frustrating due to the amount of pollen and dirt that settles on the just-washed surface. Toweling off each section before polish or wax I feel as though I'm marring the work already done. The contaminants fall on my gear...

Coated my tires today and WOW,

I got perfect coverage with no streaks by first scrubbing the tires with Bleche-Wite, then with the cleaner in the kit, then dried with air. I applied coating to a spinning tire with a very wet applicator. Great control this way & got none on the wheels. My tires were old & brown but now look...

LG Tone Pro Bluetooth Headset / Bēm Wireless Mobile Speaker

Thanks for the post. I think I'll be buying both--been thinking about a bluetooth headphone that used buds so I can wear them under muffs when mowing. I use buds now but sometimes the cord gets snagged when I get too close to branches & vines. As for the speaker--I've been noticing the huge...

It's there much difference in backing plates?

No -- Velcro has replaced PSA in woodworking too. I have a follow up question: I've read the electric DA polishers can get hot in use. Why don't most plates have holes in them like my sanding plate -- wouldn't that cause some cooling?

It's there much difference in backing plates?

I'm new to DA buffing (unless you count a beastly 12" Dewalt I've been using for years). I have a PC 7335 but it's an older single - speed machine so I recently bought a Harbor Freight DA. It came wIth a 6" plate and just so I can get started ASAP I've swapped the 5" plate off my PC. Although...
