    Ceramic noob here...need some advice

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input. Guz - your perspective is helpful. I was actually already looking at CQuartz Lite for the first try. I'll probably go that direction. As I look at the application directions, it's really the same routine I do now: Wash, ironX, clay, IPA wipe...

    Ceramic noob here...need some advice

Hey All, I need some advice. I'd call myself somewhat of an advanced hobby detailer. I'm not at the level of some of you pros, but over the years I've become fairly competent at removing defects and maintaining the finish. I have a solid wash routine and have a PC, Flex, and rotary. I'm...

Flex 3401 and Force Hybrid Pads

All, I just picked up a 2008 Jetta to use to go back and forth from the train station every day while I wait for my new car to arrive (whenever BMW decides I'm allowed to have it.) Overall, the car is in pretty good shape. There are some defects and swirls on every panel. I'm going to go to...

My own Tesla Model Y - New Car Detail

Thanks man. Yes I haven't made the leap to coatings yet. The time might be right though. I have an M3 coming in a few months. Im the MAN

My own Tesla Model Y - New Car Detail

To me as well. I spent a lot of time going over this car to make sure it wasn't damaged before I took delivery. But yah, look at the Tesla forums and you'll see tons of stories of cars arriving in awful shape. They make a cool car, but their distribution and fulfillment is not great.

My own Tesla Model Y - New Car Detail

Hey All, We just took delivery on this new Tesla Model Y for my wife. Overall, we love this car, but of course I needed to spend the day with it first before she could drive it. I did my typical new car routine including decontamination, polish, and sealant. I know Tesla has a reputation for...

    Detailing light

Hey guys...I’m looking for a light to help make defects, swirls, etc. stand out as I correct and polish. Any recommendations I should be looking for? I’m just wondering if the detailing specific lights add value, or if I can hit Home Depot and buy something a bit les expensive. Thanks!

    2021 BMW X5 Competition

Thanks guys. I've always used M105 by hand with a foam applicator and had 90% success, sometimes more. I'm just expecting a new M3 (yes with the ugly grill )in a few months and want to be ready. With my Flex tool, I don't expect to have to break out my rotary for some time, but...

    2021 BMW X5 Competition

Hey man. Great work! What is your secret for the B pillars in the BMW? They swirl if you look at them too hard.

    Pad selection and quantities

Thanks guys. I've worked with both polishes before. YEs, the 105 is definitely tough to work with sometimes. I'm just moving to the Flex and wanted to hear about your experiences. My wife is getting a new Tesla in a month or so and I"ll be doing a decontamination, polish and sealant...

    Pad selection and quantities

All, Quick question for those of you with the Flex 3401. I'm going to be using a Flex with M105 and M205. I figure I'm going to try the LC Force Hybrid pads - white for 205 and orange/gray with the 105 as needed. First, is this a good pad selection for these polishes? Second, how many...

    OTC Product like Ironx?

Hey man...I live right in Elmhurst. We're neighbors. Haven't been here too long. I sent you a PM. Thanks for the advice everyone. I picked up some of the Meguiar's wheel cleaner and I was actually impressed with it. I feel that it helped loosen up more contaminants than the IronX. I'm...

    OTC Product like Ironx?

Hey All...it's actually a nice day in Chicago and I think it'm going to use it to work on my wife's car. The only product I"m low on in Ironx. Does anyone know if there are any OTC products that are similar that I can use on paint? Thanks!

    2017 BMW 330i - Mineral Gray

Nice job! I used to hate the rubberized trim around the windows on my BMW. I bought it preowned and I guess the previous owner used some harsh cleaners that dried out the trim a bit. It was always so hard to get just wright. It either looked too greasy or too dull since it didn't really...

    Ordered next car

Agreed. There really isn't any difference to the dealer in terms of buy vs. lease. I usually let my dealer unwrap and inspect the car but do minimal detailing. I've had good luck at the last couple of dealers I've worked with. After speaking with my salesperson, once of the reasons why they...

    PC vs Flex

Thank for the replies already guys. I was thinking about the Flex 3401. I have Metabo rotary from around 10 years back. I used that thing all the time and got some great results. It's definitely easier to correct defects with the rotary than the PC. I did also mess a couple of small things...

    2019 AMG C43 Spring Detail

Thanks. Yes, I love the car. The Selenite Gray really pops when it's clean and polished. The night package adds that black trim for contrast. Dirty is another story. It really looks dull when not clean. My only problem is that I don't drive it enough. I moved to Chicagoland two years ago...

    2019 AMG C43 Spring Detail

Hey All, Since we are stuck at home, I figured it was a perfect time to get some Spring detailing done. Usually my wife hates when I clean my car because I spend all day in the garage. But with social distancing, it doesn't seem to be a problem . I thought I'd post because even though it's a...

    PC vs Flex

All, I started detailing with a PC years ago and moved up to a rotary tool. I love the power of the rotary but find myself using the PC more just due to ease of use and the fact that it's hard to do damage. Do you guys think it's worth checking out the flex? Will I get much better results...
