Engine Bay Cleaning: Chemical Guys: Black On Black Dressing - Long Term Results

Yep, Backfire All-In-One Trim & Tire is excellent for engine bays (just did my Z4's engine today in fact). However, I do still use some sort of aerosol dressing for hard to reach areas and corrugated materials.

    Help. Stream Cleaner or Extractor

The VX5000 is nowhere near big enough for that kind of job. I have one and consider it a fairly light duty tool.

Is there a 0-60 new guy kit?

Personally, I find that spending more money on tools gives better results than spending more on chemicals. As others have said, the differences in many products is small. Tools on the other hand can make a big difference. Unfortunately, most of those are personal preference. You can't go...

How long does it take to dry your MF towels?

On low heat, about 30 minutes for medium thickness (480GSM) and an hour for thick (1000GSM).

How to clean this amout of dirt on wheel wells

With felt wheel wells, I prefer to use a stiff brush on them while they are still dry. A tire brush works well, but I've found that a "spotting brush" works the best (although they tend to have sharp handles). Once I get most of it out while they are dry, then move on to a pressure washer.

Newbie with a Mazda and a pair of hands

You could try something like Meguiar's Swirl X as well. I wouldn't expect miracles, but it's inexpensive enough to give it a try. I haven't personally used it, but I've seen videos online that make it look promising. As far as the sealant goes, I would think that if you applied it by noon it...

Newbie with a Mazda and a pair of hands

I just picked up a 2016 Mazda 6 GT a couple of weeks ago myself (my first ever brand new car) to replace a 2004 Mazda 6 wagon. Mine is the deep crystal blue color. Luckily, the dealer left the paint is very good condition on mine. I just had to clean off some adhesive from the masking used in...

    Using car products on furnitures!!

I use detail spray for dusting coffee tables, speakers, etc. It works great, although it does catch the cats by surprise when they jump on the slicker surface.

How to do cosmetic engine detailing

I second this. While I'm very new to detailing, this same technique worked great on my 11 year old Mazda 6 that had never had the engine cleaned before. I would like to get in there with the steamer and get into some tight areas yet, but overall it looks much better. As far as BF AIO...

This is how you demo dirty door jambs

A pressure washer is very likely faster. I have a gas Craftsman that I bought a couple of years ago. I used it twice and the next time I tried it, it wouldn't run. I haven't taken the time to get it looked at yet. Needless to say, I'm not happy about it, but now that I'm getting into...

OK, maybe that didn't come out right... I'm not *that* patient.

This is how you demo dirty door jambs

I got the VX 5000. This is my first experience with a vapor steamer so I'm still learning how to make best use of it.

This is how you demo dirty door jambs

This is my personal winter vehicle. I'm just an enthusiastic, not a professional. It's a 16 year old farm truck and I don't know when the last time these hinges were clean. This was some really thick grime.

This is how you demo dirty door jambs

While I appreciate all of the "how to clean ..." videos on the web, it bugs me when many of them appear to start with a car that already looks clean. Today, I got out my old truck that I use for a Winter vehicle so that I could try out my new vapor steamer. I should have taken pictures of the...

VERY Thick Smokers Film on Windshield

I've never dealt with that exact situation, but magic erasers typically work well.

Best Garage Heater for MA weather

I like the forced air propane heaters. They are fairly inexpensive and heat up quickly. I just have a small one like in the link in my 1.5 car garage. My garage has a 10' ceiling and isn't insulated, but this heater can still get it warm enough to work in during freezing temperatures. The...

Mothers Back to Black Trim and Plastic Restorer Review

I've had a lot of trouble trying to get this trim restored. I first tried Back to Black, then went on to BlackWOW. BlackWOW actually worked really well for a couple of weeks, but started to get blotchy as time went on. The last thing I tried was Solution Finish. It worked pretty well too...

Mothers Back to Black Trim and Plastic Restorer Review

I wouldn't bother using this on faded trim. I have an 11 year old Mazda with badly faded luggage rails on top. Back to Black looked great when it was first applied, but as soon as it dried, it didn't look any different than when I started.

    Foam gun bottle

I hate to revive an old thread, but I have the same question. I just bought a foam gun and after the first use, I decided that a 1/2 gallon would be better.
