I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Haha yeah, the number of products out there is overwhelming. I noticed that V7 hides the towel marring somewhat. I have a gallon of it and plan to use it after every wash.

How would you polish this fender?

The fenders on my car have lots of edges and uneven surfaces. How would you go about polishing it? I hesitate to use the DA for fear of burning off some edges. Do you think I can do a good enough job by hand or should I risk the DA? I'll be using Ultimate Compound then M205. I already did...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

You guys are probably sick of looking at pictures of my paint. I finished up the roof last night with Ultimate Compound/Orange pad followed by M205/White pad. I'm not 100% happy with the results but it's going to have to do. In some pictures the marring looks light or doesn't appear at all...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Not so much but I'm going to have to live with it. I'll post up some roof pics shortly.

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

I understand but if I can get rid of them I'd like to. Then, in the future when I wash the car (almost always with ONR) I will use my Vac N Blo to dry it to minimize more marring. I could be wrong but I think that my use of cheap MF towels did this and now that I've got some good ones (with...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

The guys that are suggesting that my issue is towel induced marring are correct. What I'm seeing isn't swirls, they're towel marks. With that in mind, in the future I'll be very careful not to press down hard when removing anything from the paint. I got a hold of some Megs Ultimate Compound...

Detailing small areas by hand ????'s

I'm really glad that I read this thread. I'd never considered the heat factor with bumpers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Hmmm maybe I am pressing down too hard when I'm wiping off the residue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Round 3: I've been working on the car most of the day, splitting my time between using Dr. Color Chip on the front of the car and polishing the deck lid. The Dr. Color Chip came out pretty good, not so sure about the deck lid. I can still catch swirls with the Brinkmann but once again...

    Megs NXT and Ultimate?

I had pretty good luck with the liquid NXT 2.0. It lasted all summer but my car is in the garage most of the time. I have no proof but I think that ONR helped extend its life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Yes, I was using cheap Sam's Club MF towels up until a few days ago. Please don't think I was being a smart@ss with my previous reply. I wanted your honest opinion. It does look better but it's not quite there yet. I'll try the white pads again tomorrow and see how it looks.

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Do you think I'm being too picky? Do you think that the paint in the second pictures is good enough? My fluorescent garage lights hide every flaw and I'm just getting used to using the Brinkmann. I live in Southwestern PA and we get sun like 3 days a year so I can't really pull it outside...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Ok guys, here are the pictures. Left side of trunk lid (untouched) Right side of trunk lid (polished as previously noted) It's 60 degrees in my garage. My garage is heated/cooled but it was 9 degrees outside last night so it's a bit cooler in there than it usually is. A local guy...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

Round 2: Got my Brinkman and high quality MF towels in the mail today so after work I headed down to attempt to apply what I've read here and The Art Of Detailing (ebook). I did one half of the trunk lid (09 Mustang, very short lid). Black LC (flat) pad, M205, speed on 4 1/2 (kept bogging...

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

I'm going to purchase and download the ebook today. About 15 minutes North of Pittsburgh. Thanks! I wish I had an air compressor. The closest thing I have is a Vac n Blo Metropolitan, which probably isn't strong enough. I will for sure. I'm hoping to get to it on Saturday. I hope so! :)

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

It didn't need claying at all. It's pretty much a garage queen (99% of the time). I had clayed and sealed it over the summer. I did the baggie test and felt nothing on the paint. I did re-strip it, however. I will be sure to do a test spot and use my new Brinkman Light. Thank you.

I'm baffled - still have swirls after hours of work

I've been reviewing this thread for the past few days and it seems evident to me that there are a variety of things that I did wrong. 1. assumed that my super bright lights in my garage would show any swirls or flaws. 2. used the wrong product to start with 3. bought cheap MF towels and paid...
