Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Final result in 1920x1080. Camera isn't a DSLR so it can't capture the effect of the paint being covered in glass. Cumulative probably 16 hours of work. Wash, whole car in M83, wash, whole care in M205, wash with wax/grease stripping dilution of shampoo, seal with Powerlock. Seems the doors...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

So way in the future update on this. For the past 2.5 years I haven't done anything to the paint aside from washing it, claying it, and sealing it. Time wears on though and a buildup of cosmic grime and water spot etchings made me decide to polish the entire car. Theres a few fine scratches...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? I initially started with M205 before going to M83. I actually think the M83 somewhat reduced the appearance of the pinholes, but it might have been my imagination. At this point I'm thinking of kitchen-sinking it and trying the whole range from orange pads...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? Here's a close up. The gap on the left is the gap between the hood and fender to give you a scale. You can see both (what I think is) orange peeling in that the light bulbs are distorted, and the (what I think is) solvent pop by all the speckles around the...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? So far it happened in all 3 places I polished...section of the hood, section of rear fender, section of trunk lid. At least it's a white car and not a black one or I'd be suicidal :) In the end, I do have to keep in mind that this is a daily driver. AND...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? By "correct", I'm assuming you mean getting rid of the swirls and not the orange peel, since orange peel is practically irremovable? The downside of doing that would be then the paint will get a ton of speckles/solvent pop...just can't win! Nope, nothing...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? Trying to build my case of "Honda paint sucks", is the blurriness in this pic from orange peeling? I'm beginning to think it's just impossible to do anything to the car without making it worse, having today noticed some new swirls in a portion of the hood...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? I'm skeptical it's a surface contaminant, especially since the car was clayed (and re-washed) before it was polished, the clay didn't have much to pick up and looked pretty much the same afterwards as it did going in. You're right that they aren't all that...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Re: Removing swirls left speckles? To answer questions asked: It's a brand new car (well 6 months old, but parked in a garage and not driven for 4 of them). The spots do look like pin holes. Only appear in the 3 places I polished (hood, trunk, and rear fender by gas door). There were only 3...

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes?

Removing swirls left speckles or pinholes? Machine: PC Products: Meguiar's M205, M83 Car: Honda Accord (2012) So I was removing some light swirls using a lake country ccs 4" green pad (after wash, clay, and wash). I was able to get the swirls removed satisfactorily, but I notice in direct...
